Starts today. Anyone else going to be watching? I love NCAA baseball.

Unfortunately I'm making the long flight back home in a matter of about 12 hours so I'm going to miss all of Friday and Saturdays games. Should be another good tournament though. Go Wazzu and BC.

Holy crap that Irvine regional is LOADED. Irvine and Virginia are really good teams, SDSU has Strasburg, and Fresno State, the 4 seed, are the defending national champs. Wow.

As long as Ole Miss and Arkansas lose I'll be fine.

It's always a good tournament, but some teams really get screwed in the selection process. Like my brother's team, Eastern Illinois. 36-14 record. Top 5 (currently #2) in the nation in batting average and slugging (currently #3). Top 10 in home runs per game. Eastern beat 5 teams that made it into the tournament, including Oklahoma.

EIU had one of the best shortstops in the country in Jordan Kreke and one of the best hitters in the country in Brett Nommensen, who only played half of the season because of a wrist injury. He hit .525 with a 1.010 SLG and a .652 OBP. EIU could have as many as 4 players drafted this summer. In the Big 12 alone, 8 teams made it. There's definitely some regional bias.

Oh, I agree 100%. I think I read where Oklahoma State snuck in with a 9-16 conference record - now that is a freakin joke. In the past I know Missouri State has gotten left out several times when they should've been in. There's quite a few others I could name off too, but you get the point. They need to figure something out to determine a more accurate way of selecting the teams.

Pretty awesome game between Virginia and Irvine. Cavs lead 2-1 in the 8th.

Arkansas had a pitcher lose his no hitter with 1 out in the 9th vs Oklahoma tonight. OU, the #7 national seed, is done.

throw Bama into that mix.

Bama is done, Arky advances, and Ole Miss has to play tonight.

LSU swept through their regional, waiting for the winner of the Rice/Kansas St game tonight.

Hoping like hell to get into the ballpark for Supers this weekend.

Freakin A - Drew Pomeranz throws a CG 2 hitter with 16 Ks tonight to help the Plantationers beat Western Kentucky. Oh well, at least they're about to play a Virginia team that's on FIRE.

The LSU/Rice and Ole Miss/Virginia series are the best two Supers, IMO.

LSU and Rice shouldn't pe paired together. Both teams are deserving of a trip to Omaha, but this ensures that one will stay home.

I'm somewhat happy we're not matched with Ole Piss though. Would be nice to see several SEC teams get in the final 8. But really can't stand them boys from Oxford, so I'm prolly pulling for Virginia.

CS Fullerton over Louisville 2-0

Florida State over Arkansas 2-1

Ole Miss over Virginia 2-1

LSU over Rice 2-1

Texas over TCU 2-1

Florida over Southern Miss 2-1

Arizona State over Clemson 2-1

North Carolina over East Carolina 2-0

Really looking forward to the OM/UVA and LSU/Rice series. Those will be good.

UNC sweeping ECU is probably a lock, same with Fullerton over Louisville.

With all the huge baseball fans we have here, is anyone watching the Supers? It's awesome.

FSU and Arkansas are tied 1-1 in a rain delay in the 4th. Hogs have bases loaded no out.

Ole Miss and Virginia are just starting in Oxford. For the love of God, please win Virginia...

watched most of the Ole Piss vs Virginia game (missed the last 2 innings).

had a pretty big group at the bar last night for the LSU/Rice game.

might move the gathering over to my house for this afternoon's gmae. Gonna boil some crawfish, and fry some bacon wrapped shrimp. Depending on how many people show up, I even have a few slabs of redfish I can throw on the pit.

For the love of God, please win Virginia...

Hell of a game! Ole Miss wins it 4-3 on a walk-off blast in the 14th. Had to leave the office to get to the place I was gonna watch LSU/Rice, so I didn't get to see the 13th and 14th innings. But I saw the replay of that guy's homer. Geez he crushed that ball!

I'm kinda torn on this one. I really and truly dislike anything and everything to do with Ole Miss. But winner of our Super plays winner of this one in 1st round at Omaha. I think we matchup better against the Rebels than we do Virginia.

Do you live in Mississippi and have to deal with their fans on a regular basis?

So far, SEC schools are 3-0 in Supers (LSU, Ole Piss, and Arky), with Florida playing their game 1 today. Would be interesting to see 4 SEC school make the trip (especially since we beat all 3 of the others 2 outta 3 during the season ).

No, but I'm really close. I'm in the far, far Northeast corner of Arkansas. I have so many Ole Miss friends (and several family members) and people I know from Mississippi anyway I might as well live there though. Living in Arkansas has caused me to loathe all the Arkansas sports teams too. My passionate hate in college sports is:

1A. Ole Miss

1B. Arkansas

And barring a miracle both are going to Omaha. F me. Yesterday was an awful day. Just awful.

I'm rooting for LSU and UF though. LSU is as good a team as I've seen yet. Have you been to the new Alex Box? It sure looks nice.

Arkansas never bothered me much. Still have a hard time considering them a conference foe. Their fans are the only ones that seem to thing that ugly ass boot trophy we play for in football is worth anything. To LSU fans, it's just a rivalry that was made-up by the folks at CBS.

I'm definitely with you on the Ole Miss thing.

Arky is now officially going to Omaha winning it in the 9th (didn't watch game or see official report, so if my bro-in-law lied to me about the result, I apologize.

Have you been to the new Alex Box? It sure looks nice.

yes and no.

had tickets to the Tulane game. Me and the wife went out there, watched BP, got us some food, etc. Then the rain started. Game was postponed until next night, and we couldn't make it out there.

So yeah, I've been in it, but haven't seen a game there yet.

Oh yeah, it is VERY nice. I didn't realize how much of a dump the old Box was until I got inside this one. There is even going to be an LSU baseball Hall of Fame inside eventually.

Concourse is HUGE, lots more covered seats, bleachers down the baselines all have backs to them now. Massive HD scoreboard in left field. Same dimensions as the old one.

The intimidator hasn't made the trip to the new one yet, but Mainieri said he hopes it does. Rumour has it that there is going to be a levee out in right field with general admission seating.

Yeah they're going alright. I was rooting for FSU, but that was some game. How embarassing must it be having the other team hit a walk off... on YOUR OWN FIELD? I'm at least happy for Andrew Darr, the guy for UA who hit the walk off double. He's a good buddy of one of my best friends.

Arkansas in, LSU in, CS Fullerton in.

OM and Virginia tomorrow is going to be a fantastic Game 3. GO. CAVS.

f*** FSU. I'm glad they lost.

UVA was probably the nicest school I had ever seen when I went to visit it during college trips I made a couple of years ago. I root for UVA every now and then for that and because I fell in love with the school when I saw it.

Had the pleasure of being in Arkansas for a month in a place called El Dorado which is about 25 miles north of the Louisiana border and in the center of the southern part of the state....

I found the people there to be rather courteous as well as curious and if not some what suspicious of someone who sounds like teddy kennedy.I did like the food with the exceptions of the game feeds that are put on frequently.Raccoon and possum are loaded with cholesterol and chewy, catfish and farm fresh bacon eggs and sausage are regular staples along with hominy grits, couldnt seem to get a decent cup of coffee and the coldcuts are simply terrible, the Northern plain states are moving down there slowly but steadily, Chicago'ans are plentiful in HotSprings.

I liked pretty much the entire south with the exception of Dothan Alabama, the only place I felt compelled to carry a sidearm in public...When the sign says PLUMS, 5/1.00 and they charge 1.25 for 3 of them, dont argue, just pay the man or be prepared to go to jail or the morgue.

I also think that the Ozark perimeter will be competeting with the Carolinas and Georgia for retirees looking for a warmer climate in the next 50 years, Hot Springs is going balls to the wall in recruiting people and Florida is full, real full and it will only get worse.

Dammit. I expected them to beat CS Fullerton but I really hate Arkansas. Blah.

As for my bracket and championship picks:

Bracket 1: Virginia

Bracket 2: UNC

Champion: Virginia

I'm on the UVA bandwagon after the way they took care of Ole Miss. That was glorious. Plus, the Cavs have a ridiculous amount of pitching and that's what it really boils down to. These are going to be some GREAT games, especially LSU/UVA and UNC/ASU.

You just went down a few pegs.

I wish we wouldn't have had to play LSU twice. It f***ing sucked.

Nutriaitch, I don't really care for the boot either. I do look forward to trying to take 3 in a row from you guys on the football field this fall though. :D

That has to be the ugliest "rivalry" trophy in the country.

I got nothing really against Arky, I just don't like this forced rivalry.

There really isn't any history there.

There are 4 other teams in the SEC West that are more hated than Arky for us.

Hell, even Arky fans consider Texas a bigger rivalry than LSU, and they don't play each other every year anymore.

We've had some really good games lately, but until one of them actually "costs" the loser something, I don't see it escalating to much more than just a usual SEC brawl.

Had our loss in '07 cost us a shot at the title, or had Arky's loss in '06 cost them an SEC CG appearance, things might be a lil different now.

I figured that game in 07 was gonna be the nail for you guys, then some truly whacky crap happened elsewhere and you still managed to get in so it didn't really matter.

I don't like Texas, but most of the Hog fans that really hate them are old timers that remember our days from the SWC. I tend to hate Ole Miss more than anything, but MSU will always be #1 on their list.
