Probable pitchers:

Red Sox probable pitcher

Daisuke Matsuzaka

* #18 RHP

* (0-2) 10.32 ERA 9 SO

The enigmatic right-hander was unimpressive in his return from the disabled list on Friday, yielding four runs on five hits over five innings against the Mets at Fenway Park. He came undone in a three-run fourth inning, when New York strung together three RBI singles in a span of four at-bats against the Japanese righty. Still winless in three starts this season, Matsuzaka is 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA in three career appearances against Minnesota.

Twins probable pitcher

Kevin Slowey

* #59 RHP

* (6-1) 4.23 ERA 39 SO

One start after throwing 7 2/3 innings against the Yankees in a no-decision in New York, Slowey picked up his sixth win of the season on Friday by going 7 1/3 innings against a red-hot Milwaukee Brewers team. He allowed just two earned runs in the start, lowering his ERA to 4.23. Unlike during his start in New York, Slowey benefited from some run support, as Michael Cuddyer's cycle propelled the Twins to an 11-3 victory. He'll be facing the Red Sox for the first time this season.

The game tomorrow starts very early...is that odd for a weekday?

What is getaway day?

So much to learn once one can watch every game.

I guess the fact I'm not a huge sports news person until recently means I'm not up with terminology, either. Har. After a Google, I see it's anything from a ticket hotel package to the last gameday of a series.

Oh well...the last time I paid much serious attention to baseball, many pitchers pitched entire games rather than having pitch-count be the tale. Things are so different, I'm playing game-changes-catchup as well as memory catchup.

One of the things that sucks for the Sox (Yankees too) is that due to their national popularity, they rarely get getaway games during the day. Owners are looking to fill seats when big draws come into town, and during the week that happens at night.

My last GT (and game) until Tuesday. And I'm having a super burrito. IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING.

The super burrito sounds good! You'll be gone for six days? College visits?

It's been very fun the past year, because on the one hand, I feel like I've been a "casual" fan for a very very long time - of both baseball and Boston - but on the other hand, I'm still a shiny newbie. :)

There was a long period of time in my early 20s-30s where I didn't follow baseball at all, unless I accidentally surfed into a playoff/WS game. Then hubby would sniff "boring baseball" so half the time I'd switch it away again. Heheh...mlb.tv/internet is a godsend. Altho I think I've finally got hubby to be at least semi-interested in the Red Sox progress. :D

He'll come around. It's good to have a spouse who shares your passion. Or at least supports it.

Cousin's wedding in Bama.

Never been there. Hope you don't need a translator! You'll have fun, I'm sure. The thread won't be the same without your guidance.

So since I do the Extra Innings packy, I get the Twins announcers for this series. They're not bad at all... I actually meant to start a thread at the beginning of the year to grade oposing teams annoucers for the whole season on road games but forgot about it. Anyway, they are sooooo psyched about Target Field being built. Now the fact it's Target means to me it will be cheap, or was hoping it would be nice and just be a naming rights thing. Anyhow, I looked it up and here is a cool animation of the new Twins field for next year.

I'm impressed to be honest. I like the Twins, always have. This was a huge thing to finally happen - them getting a new stadium's been on the plate for what, 15 year??? The stadium looks sweet too. I'm assuming the weather willl be just a tad worse than boston but only in coldness for the most. I love that. Guys making millions to play baseball should be forced to play in 40 degree weather at least 9 times a year.

Anyway, good for them. Good team, Good announcers (not best, but good), good organization. Nicely done new outdoor stadium!!!!!

GO SOX!

Nice post ReSoxrooter. The animation did not reveal any luxury boxes. Maybe I missed them. When can Sox fans get a new stadium? I won't hold my breath!
