Brad Penny, RHP (4-1, 6.07) Red Sox (26-18) @

Francisco Liriano, LHP (2-5, 6.04) Twins (21-23)

Scouting Report:

Red Sox: Penny pitched into the seventh inning for the third time in as many starts last Wednesday at Fenway Park, handcuffing the potent Blue Jays to pick up his fourth victory of the season. The power-righty kept Toronto in check with a steady diet of fastballs, inducing a bevy of flyball outs over 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball. In two career starts against Minnesota, Penny is 1-0 with a 5.25 ERA.

Twins: One bad inning did Liriano in Wednesday night against the White Sox, and in a big way. The left-hander threw 37 pitches in a seven-run fourth inning that included two doubles and two home runs. He was relieved after four innings, having watched his ERA balloon to 6.04. Liriano said he was missing his spots, working too quickly, and overthrowing when runners got on base. The loss was his first since April 22 at Boston. The left-hander gave up seven runs in four innings to the Red Sox that time, and will look to improve upon that outing this time around.

Hopefully Liriano's 2009 suck will continue.

It should. Wakefield has a better chance of knowing where his knuckler's gonna fall than Liriano does of anything he throws.

Liriano is having a s*** season, and Ortiz hit him very well in ST. He hit one of his few HRs against Liriano.

Is the DH'ing of Lowell the rest that they had talked about giving him? The lineup is pretty s***** with Baldelli batting 5th. I guess the road woes will continue.

He's batting 6th, but yes, the shittiness of that lineup is disturbing. The bottom 4 is absolutely atrocious.

Ortiz I can understand, even if it makes me sad. And I guess Tito wanted to give Mikey a field break.

But Lugo.....go away.

I don't understand why Green isn't playing. Especially with turf. Lugo can't catch up with balls hit on grass.

I think Tito wants more right handed batters in the lineup against the lefty. Still, a weak lineup.

I miss the manny-Ortiz days. If I was going somewhere on the day of the game, I would wait until I saw them bat in the first inning before I left. Their ABs were a must see. Youkilis has become a great hitter and player and Bay has been great, but I will not make the extra effort to see their ABs. Their ABs are no different from a Pedroia, Drew or Lowell AB.

HD is worthy of the hype when watching games.

And movies. And the big tv series, travel channels etc.

I can skip it for the Food Network, however. ;)

non-hd looks like crap on the 50". It's watchable, but usually fuzzy.

Yeah, those days are gone. I loved watching Manny mess with pitchers (when he wanted to).

Ortiz was a real threat to make pitchers pay.
