Filthy bullpen

Is there another team in the league that can do what our bullpen has done in two of the last three games?

 

Between Ramon Ramirez and Manny Delcarmen we have two of the most rugged, durable young righty power arms in the game, and back that up with an Okajima who looks like he's going to repeat his successes this year, and of course with Papelbon, and this is a bullpen that has proven it can carry the team when the starters falter.

 

And that's with the team going very easy on our Daniel Bard placeholder, Takashi Saito, who I expect to hit the DL sometime this year to make room for Bard.

 

BTW, as much as we malign Javier Lopez, if we ever decided to get rid of him, half the teams in baseball would offer at least a PTBNL for him based on his track record over the last 3 years with Boston.

The Bullpen is the strength of this team right now, but if the starters keep s***ing up the place, the pen will start to break apart.

yea, Wakefield was already in a position where he had to eat innings to save the bullpen and already again, Beckett is in that situation today

Beckett went 6 and the guys who didn't pull heroic duty the game before now combine with 3 excellent innings of their own -- Oki, Saito and Papelbon.

 

We have 5 setup men in this bullpen. And by that I mean, 5 men with setup or closing experience. And it shows. It's incredible.
