What does his contract have to do with anything? it isn't your money.
I'm not mentioning his contract at all. The FO alludes to his contract when they make that ridiculous characterization. He is not low risk, He is at a very high risk of sucking or being injured. Either way, it hurts the team's win total. Low cost does not equal low risk when playing the game.

I was talking to the Nancy Drew guy, sorry for the confusion.

I don't believe I made any comments about Penny's contract. Maybe I did?

He's supposed to be a great clubhouse guy. Too bad he hasn't shown much on the field.

Yeah, let's complain about the 5th starter who had a bad outing in his second game when the #2 and #3 have been awful in every game they've pitched, and one is on the DL. Let's face it, folks, if Lester has a reversion and Matsuzaka falls off a cliff, this team won't go anywhere unless Smoltz enters a time machine and Buchholz finally matures between the ears.

Good point. Buckholtz is hurt now.

$15 million a year for Drew IS too much. Does anyone not think so?

first of all, its $12 million

second of all, like Kilo said, its not your money so what do you care?

third of all, the FO offered the contract so blame the FO if you hate it so much

In a MLB season where CC Sabathia is getting paid 80 trillion dollars to eat deep fried twinkies covered in barbeque sauce and salt and pitch 5 innings, and where Colorado is only halfway through their seventy-year commitment to paying Mike Hampton forty million a month to pitch terribly for other teams, 15 million a year for an above average player is excellent.

You can also argue for your viewpoint and not fold like a cheap tent if someone disagrees with you

I'm new to this site and I'm not here to argue. I actually don't have a strong enough conviction on the matter because baseball is a diversion for me. I don't live and breath it like so many. That said, I'd prefer to have fun "chatting" with other fans about something of common interest. I look forward to actually learning something once in a while. Maybe I've chosen the wrong venue. Maybe not. Wednesday there were may intelligent people on this site that were actually friendly to chat with.
