I'm calling it now. Think of the last few high paid free agent starters that went to the yankees. How did it work out, not very well. I'm saying right now mid 4 ERA. 500 season, 11-11. A f***ing bust.

That is amazingly erudite and historically accurate. I'll never forget when you said "not very well" and "I'm saying right now"...it will be one of those where were you moments. Like way back in 96 when you first became a fan and you thought Jeter was cute, but not Iman cute and you weren't sure but way cuter than Jagger in 73.

CC is famous for starting slow. But in all fairness, his contract will be very hard to live up to even if he does pitch well. He has a lot of mileage on that arm from the last couple years, and it might catch up to him, might. I would imagine he will hit his stride at some point this season.

BTW can someone please take him to a tailor, dude looked like he was pitching in sweat pants last night.

He had a 10.12 ERA through his first five starts last year, I wouldn't worry too much although I still think he's an injury risk

He started slow last year then got annilihated in his playoff start for Milwaukee.

He's been an innings eater in the rough and tumble al central his entire career with the exception of the time spent in Milwaukee where he was pitching every 3rd game cause Ben Sheets was doing his impression of Claude Rains in the Invisible Man.

Lots of negatives with this guy.

We can start with him being 50lbs overweight

His awful and depressing post season #s are embarrasing to look at for NY fans, the arod of pitchers.

His 1000 meaningful innings pitched over the last 4 years are a ton for a fat boy

He was used like a blowup doll in Jacksonians bedroom last year by Milwaukee

He begged to stay on the west coast but nobody was buying him at those prices,he isnt a fan of NYC.

so 8/160 is the price for CC Sabbathia and nobody was bidding over 100 cept NY.

San Fran kicked the tires but they own Barry Zito already, 2 Barry Zito's would sink a team into chapter 11 on the west coast.

You got to wonder where Brian Cashman is coming from and if the Fredo Brothers should be wearing the CCM helmets rather than the drooling old man who is for all intents and purposes unaware of whats happening since he left the lites on for us when we won the pennant in 2004.

I do think Burnett will be effective but that is a bigger crap shoot than this guy is, wang tung also has to rebuild his legacy as he's bitten the pillow in the playoffs and went MIA last year as well.

Dollars keep you competetive in baseball but they dont guarantee s*** but we dont have to tell Yankee fans this as theyve had the pleasure of seeing Aaron Small, Al Leiter and Helen Redding pitch for them down the stretch the past few years...

This year they are much deeper............. on paper.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

I'm not making this prediction off one start. I'm making this prediction off a track record of big money free agent straters going over to the yankees and doing s*****.

RJ, pavano, etc.

Internet muscles. Better than beer muscles.

People are really f***ing stupid. He wasn't going to throw 35 perfect games, and always has a miserable April. He'll be fine.

all I'm saying is I don't s*** from some internet punk like that f***head.

Your blind optimism is appalling. What will you say in may when he's 1-3 and with sub 5 ERA?

I think it will probably look like a bad deal in a few years. If they win a WS or two in the next few years then it may be seen as fine.

That said, I think that the best way to get pitchers is to get them to before their best seasons, not immediately afterward. Especially when the team is desperate.

Sabathia has been an elite pitcher for 3 consecutive seasons. He's started 30 games or more 7 out of 8 years. The only legitimate knock against him is that he's out of gas come October. He won't put up video game numbers like he did with the Brewers, but I seriously doubt he'll be a bust. Burnett is another matter.

I noticed those Mc hammer pants he was wearing on sports center. I thought the Yankees had a limit to how baggy their players pants can be. I know they have certain rules in the player contracts about hair legnth, facial hair and uniforms. I heard they can wear loose pants only to a certain extent. I think CC was breaking the team rules. But maybe they made an exception for him since he weighs about 550 pounds.

The same thing I said in February about Sabathia and Tex being slow starters.

You call it blind optimism, I call it being able to f***ing read statistics and interpret them. To each his own.

I think that he has to go get them pants put on his fat body, I mean really, they did look like sweat pants.

You guys are f***ing idiots if you can't see the writing on wall. He's going to f***ing suck.

No your just a Red Sox fan and you hate the Yankees and you don't want him to be good so we have a pitcher who won't help us. Its called hatred f***head. Its like me saying Josh Beckett sucks and of course he's a pretty good pitcher, even though he's a little bitch who likes to throw at people's heads. (sorry couldn't resist).
