Girardi continues not to treat these games with as much seriousness as he should.

6.5 games up in September and 10 games up for a playoff spot. While I do agree that he should still be going for the jugular now and rest guys in 2-3 weeks, he hasnt really done much for me to criticize. Especially since we keep winning.

CC poor fielding killed him this inning, but he was also the victim of some bad luck. His velocity is also down so far.

EDIT: But this inning CC is really in the middle of the plate.

CC's velocity is back up. His last inning was nice. So be it with Molina. Gotta keep Posada fresh for the playoffs

Agreed on both counts. And, like I said, I'm not blaming Girardi for Molina being in there. Has to be done. Just unfortunate, but he has really been an automatic out lately (and usually two outs if given the opportunity to hit into a DP).

Unless Hinske hits a home run here, I really hope Joe pinch hits for Molina.

EDIT: Have to pinch hit here. Not Teixeira, but someone. Even if it's Ramiro Pena.

EDIT 2: Very disappointing. With the extra catcher up there is no reason to send Jose Molina out there right now.

I understand not wanting to pitch Rivera for a third straight game. I also understand not wanting to extend CC another inning. All things considered, I really don't have a problem with those moves. Assuming Hughes is slated to close tonight, their best chance to win this game would be a combination of Robertson and Marte in the eighth inning. Instead they continue to try to get Bruney straightened out. I'm not sure how he is going to pitch tonight, but, at some point, the Yankees are going to need to come to grips with the fact that Brian Bruney is simply unreliable.

EDIT: They took way too long to get rid of Jose Veras, and they're making the same mistake with Brian Bruney.

EDIT: Well, I really like the fact that Girardi is not allowing Coke to face the RHH, and he is going right to Hughes.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for the Yankees to be out of first place again for her to slink away. The last time she posted this frequently was in 2006. She's a hit and run artist who only shows up when things are going well.

Oh you.

I won't deny I haven't been active as much as I once was...but it doesn't have much/anything to do with how the Yankees are playing, trust me. I checked, in the Yankees game thread from last year (when they weren't too good) I had almost 100 posts...as opposed to about 15 in this one. And I was around in 2007, when you guys were winning a championship and the Yankees got sent home in the first round...not to mention the two years before that.

7.5 up on 9/3 is a pretty impressive lead considering we were down by 5 games at one point in the season and the team we are leading has the 3rd best record in the AL by 3.5 games. Hopefully some of this translates into October, but this team is just cruising and crushing all comers.

I really hate Girardi. Gaudin was clearly fatiqued, and a large percentage of the outs he was getting were due to luck. He got very lucky that Scutaro flew out on that 3-2 pitch, and Girardi never should have let him face Hill with Aceves ready to go.

I said it the other day, and I'll say it again, the biggest mistake this team ever made was letting a manager walk who never missed the playoffs once while he was here.

Yawn.

Typical Jacko post.

Have to think that Marte has surpassed Coke on the depth chart. It's really nice to see him do well. Robertson is also looking very good. The guys after Rivera and Hughes have been impressive lately.
