It would be really nice if Jeter didn't run with nobody out and the heart of the order coming up.

Anyway, Verlander has a heck of a change up. The 2-1 he threw to Damon and the 3-2 he threw to Teixeira were ridiculous.

He throws it with the exact same motion and arm angle as the 4-seam.

It's f***ing filthy.

Why does every Yankee pitcher have to constantly fall behind?

I'm very concerned about this rotation.

As you and any reasonable Yankee fan should be.

There was a pop fly to Damon in sahllow LF with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and the runner held. Sabbathia got the next guy out. Ridiculous!

You would've sent the runner there? I know Damon's arm is terrible, but that was really shallow.

Ouch, the ump blew that call. Melky was out, instead it's an infield single and an RBI. It will suck if Verlander gets the loss, he's pitched better than Sabathia.

Tainted win!!1

It obviously counts the same as any other win. Just using the game thread for what the game thread is for.

bout time we got a call

Might have got one last night also. It was close, but I thought Cabrera had the throw beat to second. Burnett walked the next two after that.

This is now the second batter that Joba has walked, partly because he can't get swing and misses on his slider when he's ahead in the count. Everyone talks about being concerned with Joba's control and velocity, but you don't usually hear too much about how opposing hitters aren't chasing his slider anymore.

I figured it would happen eventually having watched the way he's pitched all year. It seems like he throws 3, maybe 4 sliders for strikes in a typical start. And he throws his slider a lot.

I wonder what Chamberlain's numbers look like the second and third time through the order. It seems like he starts giving up a lot of home runs once the 4th and 5th inning rolls around.

Joba pitched out of a 5th inning jam and went into a double spin fist pump celebration. What a jerk. More batters need to fist pump when they take him deep. After fist pump HR s by the likes of Clete Thomas, Joba might be humbled.

Joba dialed it up today. I hadn't seen him hit 97 all year. His mechanics looked off, like what DipreG was saying. His release point was all over the place.

Good call DipreG. I missed that one.
