Stupid baseball there' date=' considering how bad Liriano looked. He kept falling behind, eventually someone was going to get a big hit.[/quote']

Yeah, he was on the ropes.

Solo home run for Kubel to lead off the bottom of the second. Aceves grooved another fastball on an 0-2 count.

Could have been a set play.

Yeah, they never showed whether it was a double steal or not. I was trying to give Girardi the benefit of the doubt.

How could they show whether or not it was a set play? Either way, Gardner is going to break when the pitcher throws over.

EDIT: I guess they could have shown whether or not he broke right away.

Now the Yankees are the ones playing sloppy. Walk, errant throw on a pick off, grounder to third and the ball is thrown away.

Wow, Cody Ransom is horrendous defensively. He was doing these same things before he got hurt. The Twins give the Yankees runs, and the Yankees (minus the HR) are trying to give them back.

EDIT: I wonder if Cuddyer breaking towards third ended up distracting Ransom.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. They couldn't show if it was a set play, but if it was a double steal, the runner on third would have broke for home soon after Jeter. I don't really consider it a double steal if one of the runners takes off for a base when the infielder already has ball in hand.

YES announcers just said the pitch limit is between 60-65 for Aceves. Looks like we're going to be seeing Brett Tomko today. It's gonna be a battle of the bullpens, with the Yankees best middle innings guy unavailable.

That fist pump from Aceves was waaaaaaaaaaay out of line

He doesn't show much emotion, does he?

Not usually.

The errors really set up each other there. If Cuddyer is still at first when Redmond hit the grounder to Ransom, he would have been able to throw it to second, instead of all the way across the diamond.

Aceves is a strange guy. The blank stares, the quiet talking to himself. Kind of reminds me of Julian Tavarez.
