Burnett has been streaky' date=' but he typically gets better as the season goes on. I expect him to really continue to be [b']dominant[/b] for the most part as the season wears on

Doing a little scouting of the Mariners. I'm gonna see the Red Sox play them this weekend in Boston.

Now THAT'S a legitimate called strike 3 (to A-Rod).

Believe me, I'm not complaining at all because that was very close and the Yankees received a huge gift in the previous inning, but...

That pitch was inside, even with the wide strike zone that brooks baseball gives...

It was definitely a strike.

That's a negligible difference.

True, however brooks baseball also gives you a strike zone that is wider than it should be. Again, though, just pointing it out.

Didn't know that. Technically it was an incorrect call, but compared to some of the others, it's fine.

Remember when some people were pining for Kenji Johjima as our catcher? .229/.253/.354

From everything I've read, brooks baseball is the most accurate measure of balls and strikes.

Again, I'm not complaining.

It's a strike on your site as well. That tracks the center of a 3 inch baseball.

They should of showed an overhead of it. It definitely got the corner.

Right, but it gives a plate that is 24 inches wide. This really isn't worth arguing. I wasn't complaining about the call at all, and I admitted that it's close enough.

Yeah, I trust what I saw more than however that site tracks the ball. Usually those cameras are on angles.

What a horrible pitch. That was going to happen eventually. Joba has been missing his spots the entire game with his fastball, and the Mariners hitters were just missing it.

What's up with Joba's starts at home (5.18 ERA, 4 2/3 innings a start)? Just a fluke, or do you think he gets too hyped up?

I think Joba is good, but not as good (at least at this point) as what he did in the bullpen made people think. Joba, even when he was a reliever, did not have great control in my opinion. His walk total don't reflect it, but Joba got so many swings and misses on his slider out of the zone because MLB hitters had never seen it before. He also got away with mistakes on his fastball because he threw much harder out of the bullpen. People always talked about the fact that Joba has four plus pitches, but he just didn't need them when he was pitching out of the bullpen. However his change up is average at best, and that's being generous.

I've been amazed by how much velocity he's lost on his fastball as a starter. I thought he'd lose 2-3 mph but I didn't think he'd go from a 98-99 mph fastball to 93-94.
