Perfect inning from Hughes out of the 'pen. Good thing they are ruining him by using him there.

both bullpens suck so that cancels them out

EDIT: nvm, just saw the game's over....I feel like if I walked to up Damon and jiggled some keys in front of his face, he would start giggling and try to grab them

Another win' date=' its a beautiful thing. We have now won 8 of our last 9 series and head into Boston up a game with Burnett, Wang and CC throwing.[/quote']

I'm afraid all the confidence leading into this series will be nonchalantely swept under the rug by moving the discussion to the Sox game page. Just so it isn't lost on you Jacko, Burnett sucked tonight. Very unimpressive. Good thing there's still almost 5 years of this to look forward to.

I am sure that Burnett will hit the DL some time soon. They can look forward to that.

Its tuff to cut and paste these things properly but what stood out amongst these pitchers was 22 yr old Joe Wood going 34-5 with 344ip and Eddie Ciccotte, famous blacksox, being on this roster.

This team had 84 triples....and 29 hrs, 10 by Tris Speaker.

The oldest guy on this team was 31,

can you imagine how long they wouldve been on top had they not moved Babe Ruth 6 yrs later?

84 TRIPLES 185 STEALS 654 RBI 799RUNS and a record of 105-47.

i love comparing the different styles of play and how theyre compared to todays behemoths.

Heres the link and sorry about the s***** lines.

He was still throwing 93' date='94 in the 5th. I dont think it is a velocity issue anymore, but a location issue. He didnt look like he was finishing his pitches and instead of them sinking out of the zone, they were staying up and getting hit as the game went along. [b']Laugh all you want sox fans[/b], but this is actually good news for the yankees. Wang can throw mid 90s and he does still have the ridiculous sinker. I just think he got tired.

LMAO

If Hughes pitches well tonight, I don't see how they could possibly keep Wang in the rotation.

If they do that, they are truly not giving themselves the best chance to win.

I wonder if Mel Stottlemyre can convince the Diamondbacks to go after Wang. The Yanks might be selling low, but man is he awful for them right now. Maybe Mel can turn him around. That be a pretty sick 1-2-3 combo for AZ if Wang could pull it together.

exactly, why sell low? Thats just dumb. He's a 19 game winner X2 who just hasnt recovered from a pretty significant injury. If he ever recovers fully, he will be a hell of a guy to have in the top half of your rotation

why would the Yankees trade him when his value is this low?

ummm...

Wang is in the record books

the worst starter in MLB history after 5 starts with a 21.61 ERA

You think there going to let him go out every 5th day and fry the BP? Yes they could move him to the BP, or fake another injury to get him to the minors. Or they could listen to what teams might want to offer. Teams might find the cost of Wang to be a little more approachable then maybe it was before.

Tthey aren't getting the most value they could have gotten out of him(that would have been pre-injury), but I believe they could get back something of use and of decent value right now. You let him continue to lose confidence or keep him in the BP, his value will only decrease. It's just a thought.

Wang hasnt been the same since the shellacking he took in the 07 playoffs, his foot maybe the problem but its now year 2 of using this as an excuse.

he was 8-2 with a 4ERA last yr prior to his injury. I would say he was on his way to another high teen win total if not for the injury.

That's only because of his offensive support advantage he has. Most other guys in the league with 4+ERA don't generally win high teen amount of games.

he was right at 4' date=' and he's in the AL East. A 4 ERA in the AL East is solid[/quote']

Ok I'll give you that.
