f*** him, that purple lipped ass muncher leaves his wife in a maternity ward to take up with hooker in Toronto, he starts banging Madonna, which is equivalent to a hot dog in a hallway, announces out of his yankee contract a half hour before the sox win the world series and a cancer survivor got the W.

The man is a disgrace, a gagging **** who may not have much left after the Juice is out of his system but the fact is hes better than Cody Ransome and Geronimo Berroa

Phil learned how to pitch. He was using fastballs on the corner much, much more. He had a useful cutter to back the lefties off the plate. A good 2 seamer to get grounders. His curveball is much tighter and faster and he used his changeup a good amount. Molina called a hell of a game too. But Hughes dominated a good lineup. I think he's earned another start. This is the pitcher we've been waiting for

nope, he didnt. It was like he had laser vision on though, he was hitting the corners with precision. And what I liked even more was that he was being squeezed a lot. I got a bit nervous when it was 0-0 and Inge was up with 2 outs and 1st and 3rd. Hughes obviously pitched around Inge. And the old Hughes would tighten the rectum and walk the next batter, but he made his pitches and got a weak grounder. I think he's learning as a pitcher, which is good. He obviously has the stuff. He has 3 different fastballs now with 2 quality off speed pitches and the capability to sit 92-94, which is what he was billed as prior to his initial injury rash.

lol so lame.

But really, great game by Hughes. You guys might need him a lot this year, if not in the rotation then in the pen.

Until then, enjoy tonight.

we'll see what shakes out. If Wang doesnt rehab well, then he might be in the rotation all yr. If Joba stays as a low 90s, wild starter, then I'd rather see Hughes in the rotation and Joba in the pen. Its nice to have options in the future, but right now, we really need Hughes. Especially with Kennedy going down with blisters on his pitching hand

I was real happy with the game. Its Lame because my school doesn't get YES and ESPN Games are blacked out so I can only watch games on MLBGameCaste(Which sucks), so I'll be able to actually see whats happenin in like 2 weeks.

From the numbers, and some of your guys'es comments, it looks like Hughes did good, and Im happy about that. If Wangs skills are going to be MIA much longer, were going to need Hughes to continue with 6-8K games. Hopefully his playing well will spark a flame under some other guys and they'll start playing well. I was happy with the big 7th, it made me feel a little less un-easy that they were going to suck hitting with RISP all year as well as that they can keep it coming when they need to demolish a team. Molina? Grand Slam? Ok, i'll take it for its comedic value along with the runs.

Tonights game on ESPN[News], lets hope it's not blacked out and Go Yanks.

Side Note: Since I know you all have a new-found love for Red Ruffing, I figured I'd excite you all with the fact that Mondays Yankees-Red Sox game is also Ruffings 104th Birthday!! Erie but sweet! If you'd like to learn more about the greatness of Red Ruffing, you can look at his UnOfficial Website linked above in his name. haha:thumbsup:

Very nice start by Hughes. Especially with what they have been getting from there SP this season.

Jacko your a dork:D I know you haven't had much to cheer about, but I thought by the end of that first or second post you where going to name Hughes the second coming of Christ lol.

But let him get a few starts in before splurging the board with Yankee spunk;)

lol one f***ing start

Ah, but it was more than just 1 start. It showed the plus stuff he was hyped to have.

Last yr, he had trouble sitting above 90. For most of the game, his fastball tonight was 93-94mph.

Last yr, he had a straight fastball that would get killed if the hitter was sitting on it. This yr, he's got 3 fastballs he uses interchangeably, a cutter in the high 80s, a 2 seamer around 90 and a 4 seamer in the 93-94 range.

Last yr, he couldnt locate a very loopy curveball. This yr, he tightened the break and seemed to have complete command of it after the first inning.

Last yr, he would shy away from using his changeup. Last night, I saw him use it multiple times in clutch spots.

Essentially, the pitcher I saw last night was not the pitcher we saw last yr, and that makes me very, very happy. AND, he had everything going against him

He was facing Detroit, one of the best offenses in baseball

It was bitterly cold

The umpire had a very, very tight zone.

But he had a good fastball. He located to all 4 quadrants of the plate. He put cut and tail on the FB to keep the hitters off balance. His curveball was more a hammer than a loopy Zito-esque curve. And the changeup was used more. He's progressed as a pitcher. Now, his next start, we'll get to see if he regresses or progresses. But the potential is certainly there, something that most yankee fans would have doubted after watching him throw last season.
