Panthers signed Delhomme to a five-year, $42.5 million contract extension through 2014, with $20 million guaranteed.

Were they high/drunk when they agreed to give that bum that much money. I know they needed cap room but damn.

Good lord. Who decided that was a good idea?

I'm impressed Jake was able to get anywhere close to that after his horrendus playoff performance vs Arizona several months ago.

Cassel agrees to 6/$36 with the Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with quarterback Matt Cassel on a six-year contract extension with $36 million guaranteed, a league source close to the situation has just informed me.

Cassel was acquired by the Chiefs in a trade with New England back on March 1st for a second round draft pick in this year’s draft (#34 overall).

More on this story as it develops. [Posted at 2:15pm eastern]

Vikings coach Brad Childress says the team has not discussed Brett Favre yet, but the subject is expected to be addressed at some point in the near future.

Favre is close to Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, and the team would likely be interested if the future Hall of Famer/current waffler gets the "itch" again. It's worth noting that the Vikes aren't closing the door on Favre despite owner Zygi Wilf stating unequivocally that he had no interest just over two months ago.

Didn't see this coming<_ src="//d1mqtyoopj0gsc.cloudfront.net/emoticons/default_laugh.png" alt="">

Vikings should entertain the thought.

Or commit 1 season to Favre who is a veteran and already has a grasp of the offense. It's a short term risk for a team thats a solid QB away from being the NFC favorite.

According to the New York Daily News, one NFL source insists free agent Brett Favre "can't peacefully retire until he finds a way to get revenge on the Packers."

"Favre can't stand Green Bay," the source said. "He wants to play Green Bay and say, 'I told you so.' His bitterness is creating this. I think he's calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven't heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play."

cant the NFL just step in and say "you've retired twice already...you're banned, go hunt deer in mississippi"?

GO AWAY BRETT FAVRE

Don't be mad because he fooled you again :D That's why you never take anyone's word right after the season ends. Clemens pulled the same s*** and people lapped it up.

Besides my view has always been, if you want to play and someone will let you, then play.

Please stay retired, if he does come back it will be unbearable to watch any national coverage of the NFL.

Maybe he will kindly vanish now.

That would be nice.

Who else sees him skipping training camp, play like 1 pre-season game and just go immediately into the regular season and play?

Go. Away.

Jim Johnson (Eagles DC) dies..Was battling cancer. Dont know anything about the man... but as a Defensive Cordinator, he was one of my favorite. I loved his blitzing schemes. He was one of the best, who realized what his passion was and what he was great at, and didn't want be a head coach.

Oh man. That is sad stuff. I totally forgot he had cancer.

JJ was an incredible defensive coach and I love his balls to the wall approach to the game.

Skin cancer, Jesus Christ you'd think they would have this beaten by now.

Its a disease that all of us who spent 18 hours a day outside should worry about.

Having the luxury of growing up on Long Beach in Rockport and spending many winters in Miami I can almost guarantee I will get it some day.My dad had it, 3 uncles had it and my aunt died from it at 47.

Will the Brett Favre saga never end?!

I guess this means the two games against the Packers are can't-miss.
