With the yankees seemingly out of the Lowe sweeps and with the fact that the sox have not even made an offer, the time may be ripe for someone to scoop up the second most durable pitcher on the market. Lowe hasnt missed a start since he was converted to a starter. He's a lock to throw 190-220 innings. And he has shown maturation as a starter in LA. And if a guy like AJ can get 18 mil a yr, Lowe should at least be worth 15 mil a yr.

That being said, if the yankees or the sox nab Lowe, that could shift the balance of power even further. You put a guy like Lowe into either team's 4 hole and you immediately improve the depth, consistency and performance of the rotation. We shall see who he ends up with, but I wouldnt be surprised if one of our teams gets into the running

Yeah, I love the idea but I agree that they are not going that way.

I would love to see them go after Sheets. I know, I know the injury bug seems to hit this guy a ton but when he is on man he is dynamite.

CC

AJ

Joba

Sheets

Wang

Hughes

That is a #1 staff if healthy

That's a pretty big IF, but otherwise i agree, that would, without a doubt, be the no.1 rotation in baseball if it were to happen.

That must be it a700. What a solid analysis you have provided about their likely thought process.
I am not surprised that you cannot recognize sarcasm. Based on your earlier posts in another thread, you also think that excitement enhances judgment. Jeesh!

Mets should sign him. He'd be a perfect fit if he weren't a white guy.

So according to Rosenthal, that makes him a perfect fit for the Sox

Just because he is a fit, doesn't mean they have to sign him. Most teams don't have the luxury of signing someone just because they are a fit without considering how much it will cost finacially. They want him, but not at the price he wants. They want him at or close to there offering price or they will let someone else sign him.

Maybe Boras is hoping the Mets use the Yankee approach to FA. Offer Lowe a contract, one that is bigger then any other offers reported, and then come in and throw an extra 20M on the deal to lock it up;)

Fails on two accounts:

1) Lowe is not an elite player

2) The Red Sox are not involved to give their fans hope for signing a marquee free agent before bungling negotiations and letting another team swoop in and sign him.
