Nady for Harang is a nice deal for you guys. His 2008 struggles seem like kind of a fluke; he threw four innings in an extra inning game, wound up on the DL and was back to normal at the end of the year. Considering the division shift, he can probably post a low 4 ERA and a 1.25-1.30 WHIP in the ALE, fantastic from a back of the rotation guy.

EDIT: From the Cincy perspective, I would hold onto Harang/Arroyo, since Bailey and Cueto are not proven yet. Plus, you have a pretty solid LF candidate in Chris Dickerson.

While I like Nady a lot after his performance after coming over last year, and looked forward to seeing what he could do in a full season in pinstripes, if it meant getting a guy like Harang (no thanks on Bronson) we would be stupid not to jump on it. Yes, it means having to bear the sight of Andy Pettitte in another uniform, but I think the bigger issue is that it could, and in my eyes very likely would lead to the signing of Manny, who at this point seems like he could come cheap....ehh, well not cheap but cheaper. Certainly not the $25 Mil a year that the Dominican report had him getting from the Yankees. We all know how I feel about adding Manny, and how scary a 3-4-5 of Tex, A-Rod, and Manny would be, even if it means losing Nady, who I think is a perfect fit for this team.

We'll see what happens :D

Trading Nady and getting Manny still leaves us with the same problem. If we had no qualms about Damon or Swisher in CF, then we wouldnt be shopping an OFer. By shopping Nady, we are essentially saying that we need to have one of the younger kids or a proven CFer play CF. By dealing Nady for Harang, we'd be adding 3 mil to our AAV (from Nady's 6mil to Harang's 9mil). Then, we sign Manny for lets say 20 mil. We'd increase our projected salary from the 200mil range to 223+mil. I dont see us overspending our 2008 budget.

Very interesting. Harang or Arroyo? I'd take either. But I would want Harang a LOT more. 30 yrs old, solid arsenal, solid GB pitcher and a high K rate. And, the guy is durable. Nady plus for Harang would round out a killer rotation.

1. Sabathia

2. Wang

3. Burnett

4. Harang

5. Chamberlain

That would be f***in awesome

4. Joba

5. Pettite

That one is not so bad either, and it won't cost you a valuable player like Nady coming from a career year. With so many question marks in our lineup, we need Nady's bat more than a starter.

An OF of Damon-Gardner-Swisher scares me. First of all Gardner is unproven so we don't know what we're going to get. Damon, can he stay healthy all year? And Swisher, he's an average D OF at best, can he bounce back to 06-07 offensive form? And there's Matsui with surgeries in both legs, we don't know if he can stay healthy. You need as much offense as you can, if you're counting with those guys.

Is like last year, when both Damon and Matsui were on the DL. They had to play Gardner in CF and Melky in LF. And seriously, after investing nearly half million dollars, I'm sure the Yanks don't want that to happen again.

Besides getting Harang and his $24m owed for the next 2 years it doesn't helps "cutting" payroll. In the AL East, he'll just be an overpaid 5th starter. Nady is a cheap alternative for the OF, he's set to make around $6m in arbitration.

With all that, does it makes sense to trade Xavier Nady? no.

Aaron Harang isnt really a #5 starter. He's a f***ing horse playing in a joke of a ball park. He's a sinkerballer who consistently throws over 200IP AND can strike people out. He's the kind of guy you want in your rotation for a long period of time. He's solid.

Yeah, if yall could get Harang for Nady I'd definitely try and get that done. Dusty Baker ran his arm into the ground last year and really messed him up, but I think he will be back to solid form again in '09. He really eats up the innings.

thats the rumor. That being said, I would assume we'd need to throw in a bit more. But we are talking about the Reds. They once traded Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez for an injured Gary Majewski.

This is why you have zero credibility. Give me a different rumor than Mike Silva, who has some "source" in Tampa.

Again, this is why everyone laughs at you. The GM who made that trade is now fired. In fact, that wasn't even the whole deal. They got five players for Kearns and Lopez.

Walt Jocketty is the current GM of the Reds.

You just lowered your credibility to 0 with that statement.

You, sir, are a douche.

Ya I know what you mean. It does sway back and forth.

But I believe we all have had enough conversations together over the past few years to know that no one is intending on being truley mean spirited towards each other. It's just our way of poking each other in the ribs.

nady and a outfielding prospect would make the most sense for the yankees. Doesnt seem as though the Reds are willing to give up either of the two for the price though.

No, it was f***ing stupid. I'm not insulted at the stereotype. I'm insulted at that weak attempt at humor.

LOL JOO!
