...and he "doesn't give a s*** about his hair."

According to Jon Heyman

http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stove/posts/30845

LAS VEGAS -- Yankees co-owner Hank Steinbrenner is said by people close to him to want Manny Ramirez in pinstripes. Unlike his father, who dreaded dreadlocks, Steinbrenner the junior is said by a Yankees person "not to give a (hoot) about his hair.''

Just because the Yankees are about to sign CC Sabathia and are trying hard for two more great free-agent pitchers doesn't mean they're ignoring the offensive end of things. With about $160 million going to Sabathia, Mark Teixeira is all but out of the Yankees' picture. But even if they sign three free-agent pitches -- and if they don't get either Derek Lowe or A.J. Burnett, with Ben Sheets next on the radar -- the Yankees are mulling a run at Ramirez.

The Dodgers have been pursuing Ramirez, and if the Angels miss out on Teixeira, they might join the Manny fray as well.

Hank says....

Does anyone care or buy what he says? What he has to say is as about as relevant as what Al Davis's babbles incoherently while sucking his lunch threw his straw....

So much for the Yankees being classier then everyone. Letting Manny come in with his dreads flowing, wouldn't that undermind what George preached for som many years? Looks like Hank doesn't care about any of that crap, just win baby win.

Besides I don't think theres anyway he plays in NY. If he hated Boston, he will hate NY. Same pressure, same intensity yada yada yada. The only way Manny goes is if NY blows him out of the water will an offer of 3+ years for big time money.

HE GREW UP LESS THAN A MILE FROM YANKEE STADIUM YOU FOOL. I think he would love to play in NY. It's a big enough city that he can just blend and do his thing, it's not like boston where he's gonna constantly have people on his back harassing him. And I realize Hank's word has little value to you, but who erected you up onto the high horse?

I'm self-promoted:lol:

Oh and Hank's word has no meaning too me. How can anyone take the guy seriously? He has done absolutely nothing, and thinks he should be respected like someone who has. All he is a random quote machine. He's like the spoiled kid with a new shiny toy. it's only a mateer of time before he breaks it.

Hey Manny could want to play in NY. More power to him if he wants too. I just think he would be better of staying with the Dodgers.

But buyer beware, Manny is looking for the $. And when he gets it, you don't know which player you will get. And like Jacko said, there really isn't a spot for him as the team in constructed at the moment.

If we trade either Damon or Matsui then we do. I think there's a good chance one of them gets moved.

I could see Matsui going to someone like SF.

Me too. very much so. It pains me because I love him as a player, but he's hit a rapid decline and quite frankly at this point we're better off with Manny as our DH than Hideki.

Matsui isnt in "decline" in terms of his ability. He's in decline in terms of his health. If that knee is finally right (which I doubt he'll ever get back to 100%) then we'll see the standard .290+ 20+ 100+ that we used to
