My Cougs of Washington State (my 2nd favorite college team) take on #4 Pitt tonight in the Legends Classic final. Pitt has a ton of offense weapons and it will be interesting to see how they fare against the best D in college basketball.

Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - A Syracuse University judicial board has decided to suspend SU basketball player Eric Devendorf following its investigation into an alleged assault case.

The board looked into an incident in which 20-year-old SU student Kim Smith claimed that Devendorf had hit her in the face early in the morning on November 1.

Attorney Rich Kesnig, representing Smith, says Devendorf has been suspended indefinitely, and will miss at least the spring semester.

An SU spokesman tells us that Devendorf did practice today, and his status both as a student and as an athlete will not change until the process concludes.

Devendorf has five business days to appeal the decision; the university then has 10 business days to review that appeal.

The decision by the board states Devendorf didn't take seriously his probation from his past offense.

"Accordingly, the Board concludes that an extension of (Devendorf's) current probation status would inadequately address (his) conduct," the board ruled.

When a student is on disciplinary probation for a violation, the judicial handbook states, "further violations may result in immediate suspension, indefinite suspension, or expulsion from the university."

Devendorf and Smith testified Thursday before the five-member judicial board. Its decision states that it found Smith's testimony to be credible and sincere.

"Conversely, the Board felt that (Devendorf's) testimony and that of his witnesses was scripted and biased," the decision stated.

Smith said she got out of her car to find out why people were kicking it when Devendorf called her a slut, told her to get back into her car and struck her, according to the SU report.

You stay classy, Eric Devendorf.

I've always hated him -- and not just because he plays for Syracuse, but I just really hated him, never could put a finger on why. I'm glad I have a real reason to hate him, now.

Except he's coming back!

40 hours of community service, then he can apply for immediate reinstatement. He should be back Dec. 30 vs Seton Hall, and 'Cuse won @ Memphis without Devendorf, Flynn controlled the game tonight from start to finish.

As soon as Devendorf completes 40 hours of community service, he could conceivably return to the team before the start of Big East play.

^^That was a great game, start to finish.

That T on Thabeet was ********, and Gonzaga looked like a team of freshmen down the stretch there.

Gus Johnson made that game even more exciting.

Whatever. I'm still on a high from their UNC win. I knew that BC was fully capable of losing to a s***** team like Harvard, but never in my wildest dreams did I think they would beat UNC in Chapel Hill. f***in' right.

GO STATE

What a huge win at Arkansas tonight. We thumped them 70-56 in one of the toughest environments in the nation. Winning (soundly) on a court where #4 Oklahoma and #7 Texas just got beat is definitely something to be proud of. Good start to SEC play, 1-0.

If you aren't watching UNC @ Wake Forest, you should be. This is probably the best college basketball game I've seen this entire season. It's so back and forth, WF is currently leading 52-49 just a couple minutes into the 2nd half. It would really put the icing on the cake for my college bball weekend if UNC was to lose tonight.
