UConn looking sluggish for the first 10 mins against LaSalle

Love me some Kemba Walker though, he makes Austrie bearable coming off the bench.

Xavier and Memphis was a really fun game to watch earlier in the Puerto Rico Tournament finals. It was a very physical game. Xavier ended up winning 63-58. Memphis is still having serious troubles from the FT line during crunch time.

UConn won 76-63 over Miami last night...Thabeet had an excellent game.

Wisconsin at 8:30 tonight for the Paradise Jam title.

Took a little bit to get going but UConn ended the half very well, and lead by 10, with the defensive pressure leading to a lot of easy baskets. My first look at UConn this year, and I like what I'm seeing. Very deep in the backcourt.

UConn looked like s*** on the offensive end in the beginning of the second half. No ball movement, bad shots, forcing it to Thabeet, didn't like it.

But they really turned it around after that.

And god damn is Thabeet a monster. That horrendous call when he slammed it back down that guys throat and knocked him over when it was clearly all ball. Wow that was insane.

Uconn will play better in march than theyre playing now because they have THE best coach in the nation.

How he gets these kids to play in Storrs Ct is beyond me but he gets them just the same.

Is it his payroll?

Too bad Umass Providence and URI havent been able to keep up.

There was a time when BC PC URI UMASS N.EASTERN AND UCONN were perrenial tournament teams.

add in the occasional central connecticut or ivy league school and your talking 7 tourney teams in 100 square miles, those were the days..

Massachusetts hasnt produced any great hoop players in a long time

sure kilo

these guys show up from kenya, the congo, los angeles, the ukraine and all over america because of Storrs cultural benefits and the education they get after 18 months of taking aids awareness, phys ed and basket weaving 101...

Dont be naive

Calhoun is the best coach in America bar none but dont think for a moment hes lily white and clean as a whistle, hes just a bit smarter than the average coach..

Hes the guy who ratted Calipari and Marcus Camby out,not because he was ethical but because he got outbid and didnt like it.

I love Calhoun but I dont believe in fairy tales.

If it makes you feel better he doesnt have the biggest payroll in the school

that honor belongs to Gino.

theres low and then theres lower and then theres kelvin sampson low.

its impossible to compete without playing the game so to speak

this is why bobby knight has fallen from the earth,he actually made his kids study and go to class?

the idea is just nauseating.

you need the athletes, you can go to any playground in the memphis area and find 5 guys who can suit up and beat the piss out of north carolina right now..

the thing is out of the 5,3 cant read,1 has a murder charge pending and the other is a real bad egg who scares the coach.

i am of the mindset that nolan richardson and jerry tarkanian were the best at bringing in the bad kids and making them better people but both lost their way over the years and it ended poorly for tarkanian who's last game was the NIT championship and his stud power forward assaulted 2 people with a samuri sword after the game.

speaking of ugly

look up nolan richardson and see if you can stare at his photo without going blind or turnign to stone.

Big 'Cuse fan here and what a great win tonight. Kansas is a very good team. I thought the key really was wearing them down in the 2nd half. They got tired and we were better conditioned to play that kind of a game. Bodes well for a rough and tumble Big East season.

Jonny was amazing and Onuaku was an absolute beast. They can take this team far. Rautins played a very solid game too and in addition to a decent shooting night, his defense and passing was terrific. Devendorf was Devendorf. He has got to learn how to cut down on the mistakes, they will kill us some nights. But he seems to manage to rise in the big moments and he had a very good 2nd half for the most part. Harris too has to cut down on the mistakes, but he played an outstanding game for the most part, and that monster block saved the game for us.

Great intensity in the 2nd half. Hats off to Boeheim for going man to man. The Zone is really not going to work with this team, they dont really have the personnel, and they're too athletic to not play man.

On the negative side, we have to show more patience against the better defensive teams. Kansas plays great interior defense and we kept trying to attack them with our guards. It didnt work. When we tried playing one-on-one the offense really bogged down.

But it was a great gritty win by this team. It's night and day from last year to this year with this group of players. I love the heart everyone played with tonight and the no quit attitude. This type of game was not one we would have won last year. We were at our best getting the ball out to the wings and then making entry passes to our big men. I really think this is a top 15 team and top 5 team in the big east and Flynn is one of the top 2 or 3 point guards in the nation, imo.

Also we have got to start making free throws in big spots. That almost cost us the game tonight.

But overall, just an absolute classic and a great confidence builder for the team. Kansas is a very good team who will likely be a Sweet 16 team this year. I think we can raise our expectations for this team a bit. Flynn is an absolute star and he will keep getting better.

Buckle up guys, its going to be a wild ride this year.

I disagree in regards to Kansas likely being in the Sweet 16 this year... they got raped by the NBA draft, and this team is nowhere near the caliber they were last year. I think they'll finish 4th or 5th in the Big XII. I wouldn't have had them ranked to start the year. They're 'good', I guess... but they're not good by Kansas' standards.

As for 'Cuse, I think Syracuse will finish 6th or 7th in the Big East, as UConn, Notre Dame, Pitt, Louisville, and Marquette are all better than the Orange.

Yeah I'd have to agree with See Red....the Kansas win is comparable to the UConn win over Wisconsin, IMO...wins over solid teams who have had a great run the last decade or so but will probably struggle this year.
Posted
Yeah, I'm with the 2 above, Kansas is pretty overrated. All the guys into the draft, a less than stellar freshman class, and all this guys moving from the bench to the starting lineup. They'll still have a respectable record though, and IMO will be around a 8-13 loss team.

Did everyone see that Stephen Curry was held scoreless last night? The other team apparently went into the game with no intention of winning, or trying to win, and just had a constant double team on Curry (whether he had the ball or not), allowing the rest of the team to essentially play 4 on 3.

The coach seems pretty proud of this feat, saying nobody will remember that they lost by 30, but they'll instead remember that they held Curry scoreless. I wonder if he'll mention that on the resumé he'll probably be needing soon.
