Anyone else pumped for the season? There's a bunch of games about to come on tonight and tomorrow with ESPN doing the 24 hours of college basketball marathon.

Memphis vs UMass - 11:00 pm

Arizona vs Florida Atlantic - 11:00 pm

St. Mary's vs Fresno State - 1:00 am

Hawaii vs Idaho State - 3:00 am

Drexel vs Penn - 10:00 am

UNC Asheville vs Liberty - 1:00 pm

Baylor vs Centenary - 3:00

Syracuse vs Richmond - 5:00

North Carolina vs Kentucky - 8:00

I'm such a college hoops junkie that I will watch pretty much anything.

I love it. I'm a huge UConn fan' date=' and I know I'm not alone in that here. I'll be watching a large chunk of that marathon tonight.[/quote']

If any team can spare me the sight of seeing UNC cut down the nets in March, I'm all for it. I passionately hate Duke as well, but they're pretty irrelevant when it comes to the national title these days. Heck, they're irrelevant when it comes to getting to the Sweet 16.

Yeah, they're pretty consistently overrated --barely survived against Rhode Island. Hopefully UConn won't underachieve like they're starting to have a habit of doing (though I guess AJ Price's injury is a good enough excuse for last years first round exit)

With 5 minutes to play: Loyola (Ill) 61, Georgia 45

Wow. As a conference we are looking horrible so far. First Kentucky loses to VMI, then Alabama loses to Mercer, now Georgia is getting pummelled by Loyola. Mississippi State beat Louisiana-Monroe 78-49 tonight to improve to 2-0 on the season. It appears we are one of the few SEC teams to actually take care of business so far. I'm still pissed about Hansbrough transferring though.

I LOVE college basketball.

See Red: November 29th, prepare yourself for the biggest upset of all-time. We're taking UConn down.

-I watched Purdue against East. Michigan tonight, and Purdue was real impressive.

-I was following the UConn game online because it wasn't on TV, and turned it off when it was close for whatever reason, and all of a sudden holy s*** it's a blowout.

-I heard Stephen Curry was spectaular today... 33 points 9 ast 4 steals

-G'Town looked awful.

Care to make a wager?

I'll give you Bryant and 25 points. :D

Oh, and I guess I'm an Air Force fan now too. Glad I'm enlisting in the branch that has respectable programs in football and basketball.

...maybe if you give me 40 points I'd consider it...

It's our first year in DI and we're playing games at Uconn, BC, Providence, Rutgers, and Iowa... we're going to get slaughtered this year.

The school up here, Northern Colorado, started that transition a few years ago. Kind of sucks, I'd love a major college basketball program in the area to support, but Colorado State sucks, CU isn't worth driving 45 minutes for, and Air Force (again, my new team) is about 120+ miles away.

UConn sleepwalked through the first 25 minutes and then blew the doors off of Hartford.

Kemba Walker is going to be a special player.

Kemba Walker is sick, frosh of the year potential, but I don't think he's the best freshman right now.

Tyreke Evans has been Memphis' best player by far, he score 19 in 24 minutes off the bench the other night. Jrue Holliday is really good too, but I think Collison is going to make him look better than he actually is. But I think Demar Derozan at USC is going to be the best freshman of this class on the NBA level. His size for a 2 is ridiculous, and he's almost athletic as LBJ.

Mercer is a pretty solid ASun team. I'm not surprised they beat Georgia. SEC basketball sucks.

Loyola beat Georgia. Mercer beat Alabama. I also remember Mercer beating USC last year.

UNC will probably rout Kentucky tonight. The best game of the night should be Oklahoma and Davidson. That's definitely the best early season matchup of 2 quality teams.

Curtis Jerrells is playing insane this year... granted Baylor has played against 2 complete cans so far, he's putting himself together an awesome year so far. I think he can make 2nd/3rd team All America if he and Baylor can make some noise with some upsets and go around .500 in the Big 12 and make the tourney.

I'm not sold on either of those teams. They lose 3 of their top 4 minute getters last year, Curry isn't going to be that much better than he was, especially with Richards gone. They've got a few good players over there left over from last year, but I don't see them as being impact players.

As for Oklahoma, I don't think they're a top 15 team, Griffin is ridiculous but I don't think that we'll see them making any noise. They play a 3 guard lineup, which works sometimes, if you're real big up front and one of those guards has some size, but Griffin and that other guy aren't really that big.

Richmond-Syracuse on ESPN now' date=' Richmond up 4 late in the 1st, good game so far. Syracuse is another of my favorites.[/quote']

You like Syracuse AND Duke?

Ughhhhhhhh

Richmond is pretty scrappy. They're hitting a lot of shots so far.

Syracuse could make some noise in the Big East this year. Having Devendorf miss a lot of time last year ultimately killed them.

Syracuse is VERY reliant on the three to have any success.

IMO, it's Pitt and UConn in the BE, then the second tier (Gtown, Louisville, Syracuse, WVU), then everyone else.

I think UConn is the best overall team....we have to see how they mesh though.

True. However when they're on, like all 3 point reliant teams, they can play with just about anybody. That's a tough way to go though. When you aren't shooting well you are very average.

You don't think Louisville is in that top tier with UConn? I think they're better than Pitt.

Wow. Did anyone catch the Arizona/UAB game? It was tied and Arizona had the ball for the last shot at the end of the game. They missed, and a UAB player got the ball and started upcourt. For some unknown reason, an Arizona player reaches out and grabs his jersey and gets called for an intentional foul. Keep in mind the game is TIED and there are now 0.8 seconds left. UAB hits a free throw and wins 72-71 to head to the pre-season NIT semi's in New York.
