Not the worst idea. Our infield, and Lowe himself, have both undergone a metamorphosis since he was last in Boston, and he is a Beantown hero. He's old enough that it should be possible to strike a 2-3 year deal and he has a secondary benefit as a possible mentor for Masterson.

Bring him on in to fill that gap in the rotation

Not to mention he's cheaper and healthier than the Ben Sheets and AJ Burnetts of the world.

I really doubt that Lowe gets 5 years from anyone. SInkerballer he may be but if he gets to 40 it'll be on a couple of 1 and 2 year contracts after this upcoming one.

He wants back in Boston cause he was a God and got tons of poon there. LA has too many other stars, he's a nobody, so no poon.

beats the hell out of Javy Vazquez...

Lowe as the 4th SP isn't bad. Depends on the AAV of his deal, and thatn it's a 2 year deal with maybe a 3 option. I know he can get more, but hes going to have to take a discount to come back. The Ownership group is not as High on Lowe, as Lowe is on Boston.

Where in that article does it say anything about these contract amounts?

I'm not quoting any article. And if you think he's going to sign for less than that, then you don't know anything about Lowe's stats and his agent. He won't sign for less than 60/4.

Just a question: Do you mean that or are you taking a sarcastic swipe at others who like to hate on Boras for making sure players get paid?

I mean it. Making sure players get paid is a lot different than trying to make out like someone is getting robbed for 'only' getting 5 yrs. at eighty million billion dollars.

I hate his tatics, but if I was in need of an agent, he be at the top of the list.

Don't forget, in the end, the player has the final word.

It would give me so much more faith in humanity if a couple high-profile stars would just step up and say 'you know, I can't do anything with 20 million a year that I can't do with 40. In light of the average American's struggles at the moment it seems selfish and horrible to hold up the team management for so much more money. I'll take the contract they're offering.' I know it won't happen...but Scott Boras certainly has to have some kind of sway in the decisions to get these guys to say 'no, 4 years, 70 million just isn't enough'.

If baseball team owners weren't making so much damn profit, I'd be more inclined to agree with the "Scott Boras is killing baseball" crowd. MLB team revenue in 2007 was $5.5 billion

The players may be rich, but the owner is signing all the checks. No team is going to make a deal that might bankrupt the franchise. With reavenue sharing there alot of money to be had out there.

And like it or not Scott Boras gets that. And he gets .03% of what he can get GM's and Owners to pony up. They basically have feed fuel to the fire. But given the same circumstances, any one of us would feel no problem fabricating things like Boras does if it ment huge gains in $. Don't kid yourselves, what Boras does tho shady, but in the end harmless. He's not holding women and children hostage. He's playing of the stupidity of others. I mean anyone that could convince an owner that the only way his team could sign Arod, was he had to do a 10 yr 252M deal, and getting him to do it, is a genious. I mean really look at that deal. No one was even remotely close to that kind of offer(from what I've read and heard over the years). He's good at what he does. Even tho everyone knows his tatics. Infact the only job recently he got hosed on was Dice-K, but in the end he had no leverage. Point is, this guy knows how to expose the smallest amount of leverage and run with it. Takes a certain breed. I feel sorry if he has leverage for whoever your team is.

The only was stop a man like Boras is for no one to deal with him. And that's just not going to happen.

If I wasn't an atheist' date=' whatever religion I belonged to would have Scott Boras as it's devil. The man is the biggest cancer in baseball. I think he was actually removed from Mike Lowell's testicles.[/quote']

Wow, someone agrees with my feelings of disrespect and utter hatred for Scott Boras, awesome.

Jesus, let's be done with D-Lowe. The grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it.

I just remember his game on July 4th in 2004, when he got shelled against the Braves. Sometimes he was great, sometimes he was downright awful. Let's just move on and not talk about Lowe anymore.

Especially when the other side is the National League West. I agree though, no go for Lowe.
