per NESN.

Would have been shocked if they didn't at least explore this. Please get it done, Theo, and lock down as many FA years as you can.

I truely believe he's a Craig Biggio in the making.

Pedroia is already as good as Biggio was at his peak.

The thing that scares me with Pedroia is how young he is. It's hard to imagine him getting better, but the guy's only 24 and could concievably do it.

No, but he does hit for better average.. Biggio only had 2 seasons where his batting average was better than Pedroia's career rate. Pedroia's nearly, but not quite, Garciaparra good at putting the bat on the ball.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a couiple 25-30 HR seasons from Pedroia. You can see where with the right adjustments and a nice career year the laser show could carry over the wall a bit more than it has.

Biggio had some ridiculous years in his prime, just look at his 1998 season:

.325 AVG, .403 OBP, 24 HRs, 88 RBIs and 50 SBs

Pedroia could potentially match all of those with the exception of the 50 SBs obviously. But while Pedroia doesn't have mind-blowing speed, it wouldn't shock me to see 30 SBs out of him. The ability to steal bases isn't so much based on speed as it is knowledge of the pitcher and catcher and the ability to recognize tendencies. You saw that with his jump from 7 SBs to 20 in one year

Aside from all that, Pedroia should end up with better than Biggio's .281 career average and be right around his .363 OBP mark and 17-63 HR-RBI season average. 20 seasons with the same organization is incredible though...

in terms of fielding, Pedroia could easily get 4 gold gloves like Biggio did, especially considering he's already established his gold glove-caliber reputation at just 24 years old but Pedroia will never have the versatility of playing the outfield like Biggio did

Pedroia's actually 25, (8/17/1983) though youth is still very much on his side, what kind of numbers could he possibly get given his age and past performance?

Probably 4-6 years. They will want to buy out the rest of his arb years, plus a couple FA years. I'm not sure what's a comparable player out there. Longoria got a long term deal done that could be used to compare to. But Longoria time in the ML is alot less.
