Considering we've had three straight such meltdowns, this is perhaps more threadworthy than meets the eye. Our great starting depth really let us down this year with Schill hurt, Colon sulking, Daisuke not eating innings, Byrd and Wake not stepping up and Beckett underachieving all year.

 

Improving our SP corps is looking like a surprise priority of the offseason.

I was definitely disappointed that the Sox didn't land Santana. I never would've looked back, because Santana would have helped win two more championships. There was nop urgency for management to pull the trigger because they had just won twice and the Yankees withdrew their offer. Red Sox management didn't want another high priced guy.

Santana can make a good run at the Hall of Fame, and Ellsbury will be a starting OF for a few years.
