So I figured I would start this now that the first moves of the offseason have taken place.

Today the Yankees fired third base coach bobby Meacham, who i wasn't a huge fan of; and special pitching instructor Rich Monteleone. Monteleone has been on the staff for a long time, and I always thought he did a nice job. I guess his departure is just to make an example. He's been more of a behind the scenes guy since being replaced as bullpen coach after 2004, but still made an impact. Bets of luck to him.

Although unlikely, I would love to see Willie Randolph take Meacham's spot on the staff. Anyone but Sojo. I like Sojo, as a coach and manager. Just not as a third base coach. He was almost as bad as Dale Sveum :thumbdown

I guess he falls under the category of piss ant employees then.

Bowa's not leaving Torre and the Dodgers. I wish. He was great while here.

I can't stand Bowa. It's only a matter of time before someone grabs him by the head and whips him down a la Don Zimmer. See him and Lopes jawing the other night? Lopes waved his hand at him and walked away like "whatever" and Bowa kept jawing.

Christ, this f***er is still bitter over a call in the 1977 NLCS, and of course it just happened to involve Davey Lopes, which explains a bit about the other night. In 19977 his team lost the series 3-1, but all he focuses on is one play in game 3...Bowa is a douchebag.

here's a short article on the play in question:

he is a tremendous *******

was amongst the most hated players in the game and is an utter and complete douchebag.

the only team that needs a 3rd base coach to be normal is boston.

Pettitte wants to come back, and it seems the feeling is mutual. If he comes back, and Moose returns, the Yankees will more than likely focus on one SP and two hitters.

It's not happening, but let me dream of CC, Manny, and Tex for a few days.

This.

Also, you can't bring back Willie or Bowa. Puts unnecessary pressure on Girardi. First losing streak and the media will be pushing for one of those guys to take over. I like Sojo on the staff, so move Pena to 3rd base and put Luis at first. According to Feinsand he's worked well with Rodriguez, and should get through to Cano.

I am okay with Pettitte coming back under the following conditions.

The medicals work out. IE, a physical, another MRI, etc. His uncharacteristic explosion post ASB has me concerned about an injury. But if they are certain that is not the case, then sign him.

And Pettitte cannot go into the yr in our top 3. We have seen the sox and the rays pass us by in the division mostly based upon the strength of their rotation and the fact that their guys took the bump a lot more than ours did. We need to have 4 reliable starters while leaving that 5 slot to Joba or Hughes. If we resign Moose and Pettitte on 1 yr deals, then I am perfectly fine with one more signing. And maybe it isnt CC, and that's okay. But we cannot afford to go into the yr with Wang, Moose, Pettitte and then having the last 2 slots settled by rooks. It just cannot happen for a second yr in a row

I personally hope Moose hangs em up. I love Moose and think he's an incredible pitcher who's had an incredible career, but if he pitches 3 more years, as he said he would if he doesnt retire now he would hit a steep decline and I wouldnt want to see him struggle as we did last season, possibly worse. I think this season is the perfect way for him to go out.

You can never have enough pitching.

And now with reports that the Yanks are among the front-runners for Peavy, you're looking at a potential '09 rotation of Sabathia, Peavy, Wang, Mussina and Pettitte

Where are these reports? I have nothing of the fact. Peavy is probably going to end in Atlanta from what I hear.

I heard on WEEI this morning that the Braves, Dodgers and Yankees were considered the front-runners. As far as getting an actual top-line baseball insider to confirm, all I found is Buster Olney saying he potentially sees the Yankees being interested.

There's speculation that he would be willing to go to the Yankees, however. I don't remember the exact quote but his agent said something last week.

I actually like bringing Pavano back. I wouldn't guarantee him a spot in the rotation, but as insurance, he's not all that bad.

Kilo, to put a pic of Palin under a communist banner is ridiculous. That would be equivalent to a picture of Obama in front of a KFC banner.

A spanish newspaper is reporting that NY has signed Marte to a 3 year/$12 million deal

Yeah that guy's from here, and he's known to deliver "exclusives" like which sometimes end up not being true.

I'd advise waiting for another, more reliable source.

Thats like putting you balls in a bear trap..... makes no sense at all...... The fact you would even consider him as "Depth" is utterly amazing and dumbfounding

Gom your better then this.
