Though it's too bad the they had to disable Lowell in the ALDS and he is ineligible for the ALCS, I think that this forces Tito to open things up. Obviously Youk will start at 3rd, and Kotsay will start at first, but I would say look for Lowrie to move to third base and Cora to short for some of the time. This gets Cora in the flow.

I hate to say losing Mike Lowell is a good thing, but he was hurting so bad that he wasn't able to contribute at the plate. He was in such pain even checking his swing.

I hope they can get Casey some at bats too. He could be one of those unsung heroes that gets a big it.

None of those 3 guys have a significant dropoff when facing lefties (as opposed to facing righties), and Cora is better against lefties. Though it would be nice to have another righty on the bench.

Alxe Cora is going to play. There's really no way around it. It's not like he's a worse option offensively than Kotsay right now anyway.

Having Lowell off the roster is going to cut into Cora's playing time anyway. Tito's going to want to hold Cora in reserve now in case of in-game injuries to Youkilis, Pedroia or Lowrie.

Should be Sean Casey, but probably won't happen.

Cora's lost a lot of range at SS. I really don't like the defensive alignment.

I don't understand everyone's dislike of Cora. It seems to be that all he's done since he's been here has been solid...

It's not that we hate Cora, it's just that we think they are better options than him.

No' date=' I hate Cora, and can't wait til he's off the team.[/quote']

It's not like there are a plethora of superstar middle infielders so desperate to play for the Red Sox that they'll take a bench job. Half the good utility men are starting middle infielders right now -- guys like Eckstein, Mora, Scutaro, Freel, Figgins, Izturis and Lowrie stick in the position where they're most valuable to the team.

I mean, Mark Loretta is still a utility man. Craig Counsell still has a job. Tony Pena, Jr. has a job.

Unless you want to sign Furcal and waste Lowrie on a bench role, Cora's roughly typical of what you could expect out of the utility role.

That's not the point, sir. His defense has slipped terribly and he's about an empty of an offensive player as you can ever find.

He is a below average to bad MLB baseball player.
