Who cares about this game?

The only game with any meaning whatsoever is the last game, as Moose goes for number 20. I hope Tito, who has to be my favorite Red Sox manager ever, plays scrubs to give Moose the best shot at 20 he's never had.

but to think of even trying to use Mo with a sore shoulder in this series is just stupid

I know, I just think its ridiculously absurd that theyre thinking about using him after they were concerned enough about him shoulder that they sent him for an MRI

Not happening. The games are meaningless for both sides, it's just sentimentality that drives the Yankees in the final game.

Yeah because that wouldn't devalue his goal for 20 at all...

You're lost, dude. Your posts about Yankee Stadium and now this show you're completely clueless. Which rock did you crawl out from underneath?

I wouldn't be surprised to find that there would be a couple of Red Sox fans who would be rooting for Moose on Sunday. Wouldn't surprise me at all. Hell, I rooted for Lester when he came back.

You're saying it isn't possible for TB to lose three games and the Sox to win three?

Maybe not a given, but certainly not almost impossible.

If TB wins one against the Tigers and therefore gets the division, Francona will play the scrubs anyway to rest for the ALDS.

If TB loses and the Sox can clinch with a win, then hell f***ing no, you play Ortiz, Youk, Pedroia, et cetera.

Yeah, you may have rooted for Lester, but did the Guardians play less involved to 'give him a better shot'? No.

Rooting for a guy who came back from cancer is very very very different from rooting for a guy to reach an arbitrary milestone.

Start projected for 8:05 p.m.

Posted by Adam Kilgore, Globe Staff September 26, 2008 07:07 PM

The Red Sox say there will be "an abatement" of the rain within 15 minutes, and team and MLB officials are hoping they can start the game at 8:05 p.m. (This despite a forecast calling for a 100 percent chance of rain. If they get in five innings tonight, I will eat my media guide.) The tarp is being taken of the field, but it is a truly miserable night for baseball.

Tarp off; 8:35 projected

Posted by Adam Kilgore, Globe Staff September 26, 2008 07:49 PM

The rain has ceased (for now) and they are pulling the tarp back off the field. The revised time for first pitch "barring anymore rain" is 8:35 p.m.

Dice-K scratched, start delayed

Posted by Adam Kilgore, Globe Staff September 26, 2008 07:41 PM

The game will not start at 8:05, and Daisuke Matsuzaka will not pitch tonight. (For the record, if you couldn't tell, I don't think the game will start, and I don't think anyone will throw a pitch tonight.) If and when the game begins, David Pauley will be pitching for the Red Sox. It's still raining. A lot.

When there is more information, we will pass it along.
