More Orsillo, Eckersley in October

Posted by Steve Silva, Boston.com Staff September 18, 2008 03:33 PM

Two faces familiar to Red Sox fans will be working on national broadcasts during the upcoming MLB playoffs in October.

NESN's Red Sox play-by-play man Don Orsillo and studio analyst Dennis Eckersley will join Chip Caray, Dick Stockton, Ernie Johnson, and Cal Ripken to comprise part of the television broadcasting team for the TBS network's coverage of the four Division Series and the American League Championship Series.

Orsillo, Carey, Milwaukee's Brian Anderson, and Stockton will handle the ALDS and NLDS alongside a team of analysts including Ron Darling, Buck Martinez, Tony Gwynn, veteran broadcaster Joe Simpson, pitcher John Smoltz, and Harold Reynolds.

Eckersley will be in the studio, where he will be breaking down game action with Johnson, Ripken, and Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson.

"We are excited to have a team of announcers with such well-regarded and respected credentials for the MLB Postseason on TBS," Turner Sports executive producer Jeff Behnke said. "Their extensive knowledge and experience from all aspects of the game will provide fans with in-depth analysis of the MLB Postseason on TBS."

YES.

Harold Reynolds is the best.

For sure. Don't know why ESPN let him go.

Good to see Don doing national broadcasts again this year. I liked him doing the Rockies/Phillies last year, familiar voice never hurts.

Some sexual harassment stuff or something like that.

I wish John Miller and Joe Morgan would sexually harass someone ;)

Orsillo is just Remy's sidekick. He laughs at his jokes and confirms his statements' date=' job done.[/quote']

Orsillo is a good play by play guy. I like him. Met him in Spring Training once and talked to him on the phone during a Jimmy Fundraiser. Very nice man.

Happy for he and Eck getting some post season time in.
