For the most part of the season - Ortiz has been a shadow of himself. I wonder how far we can go in the play-off if he does not turn it around.

He's been one of our better relievers in the second half. In 16 innings, he has a 2.81 ERA and a .246 BAA.

Nevermind. I figured it out, though I don't know why the hell it's on the Sox schedule. It's the day the new Star Wars video game is to be released.

I have to question the use of the bullpen tonight. Delcarmen/Masterson/Okajima were used for the 6th-9th, our three best middle relievers, in a blowout. Masterson worked the game before (2 innings), Delcarmen pitched the day before that. I can see wanting to use Okajima since he hadn't pitched since 8/30, but I'd rather save the other two for higher leverage situations, and use Smith and Timlin.

Very optimistic showing by Beckett last night. On a limited pitch count against the Rangers, he threw 5 shutout innings while striking out 7. He didnt have as high velocity as used to seeing, but his location was dead on.

 

What a game for Lowell to come back as well, HR/4 RBIs. The lineup just got even tougher, Lowell back with Cora on the bench. just wait till Drew comes back

 

EDIT: Kudos to Pedroia for getting his 45th Double. It is the most ever in a single season by a 2nd baseman in franchise history
