I see. So Drew misses 7 games and he has a busted cervix' date=' Manny misses a month and everything's A-OK.[/quote']If Drew was averaging 140 games a year, we wouldn't be poking fun about his vaginosis.

He played in 140 last year' date=' and is projected to play in 137 this year.[/quote']When he gets his average to 140 games/year, I won't make fun of him. Right now he is averaging 119. Missing an average of 40+ games a year is pitiful.

are you blindly in love or are you working for his public relations firm?

dont compare him to manny, this guy couldnt carry mannys jockstrap in the grand scheme of things

manny looks like lou f***ing gherig compared to this guy.

i dont care why he isnt on the field.

i know youre a bright guy and can read,do yourself a favor and find another guy to idolize as this boy whether hes hurt or not just dont get on the field enuff to fullfill his potential.

i'm not alone on this

we all like his game,we just dont see enuff of it and if you think i am prick about this you should hear whats on the radio...

Answer my question, then.

Why is it OK for Manny to miss a month last season and when JD misses 7 games, he gets flack.

That's all I want to know. It sucks that Drew is on the DL but it also sucks that Sox fans can't appreciate the season he's having.

Drew's last four seasons. 72 is when HE GOT HIT WITH A PITCH THAT BROKE HIS WRIST.

Over the last 4 seasons he has averaged 126 games, so I guess he is getting better. My question is why has he never played more than 150 games? Does he always need 15-20 games of rest?

Hes hitting 280 with 64 rbi and the way hes bouncing back we wont see him till ft meyers.

a banner f***ing year or a hot month kilo?

One incredible month and other decent months. Still, you cannot complain about a .930 OPS. I won't allow it.

Oh my god.

You're really going to blame Drew for getting hit in the wrist?

No, but why does he need 15-20+ games off even when he is healthy? Yaz was playing 150+ games when he was 36-37.

Drew has a notable platoon split. Any team with a RH 4th OF (Crisp) is going to give him the odd break to coincide with facing a few particularly tough lefthanders.

he's been one of the sox best player this year

Couple other things is his defense. He's so good out there he makes it look easy. He's also currently 3rd in the AL with a .408 obp

So we're now discussing Drew's ability, or inability, to stay healthy in the Kotsay thread?

Let's sum this up...

- he's a good player

- he's had himself a nice year

- he helps this team offensively, particularly with his strong OBP

- he's a professional and exhibits some class on the field

- And there are valid concerns over his inability to stay healthy, regardless of whether it's a HBP, a cramp, a pull, a tear, a disc, etc.

Well, if he needs to sit against certain lefties, then he is not all that great. Yaz played against everyone. The 4th OF was not better against lefties than he was.

BTW: The 4th OF on Yaz's team were better than the 4th OF's on this team.

700' date=' werent you a big advocater of Trot's?[/quote']

THat would be ironic considering how often Trot was not on the ballfield.

J.D. hasnt been consistenly great all year, he has been solid as far as OBP, but take away June, and his power numbers are much like last years, quite pitiful. Didnt he have like 11 hrs and 30 RBIS in June?

I really don't get the point of the past two posts' date=' but I am sure that the two of you think you have made a really good point. Run with it.[/quote']

You get on Drew's case constantly for not being able to stay on the field. Back in 06, you were lobbying for Trot to remain the starting right fielder. It is irony because Trot is the less durable player

It is irony because Trot is the less durable player[/quote']I am more frustrated with Drew precisely because he is a better player than Trot and he makes much more money than Trot. I liked Trot, but it was not as critical to the teams success for him to stay in the lineup as it is for Drew, and again Trot made a lot less money. Yeah, big irony. Are you trying to show that I am anti-Drew? Well, I am not. I love the way he plays the game. I just think that he is a bit fragile. Every time he slide or bumps into the wall, I worry that he will miss a week. I am sure that I am not the only one with that concern. He misses a lot of games for reasons such as tightness, soreness etc.
