If it's true, then we will both be unhappy. The Yankees will never win another World Series under Cashman's watch. Period. His experiment with young pitching when superstar pitchers were available cost them a potential world series victory, and by the time he realizes his mistake, the window of opportunity with the players he has [Arod, Damon, etc] will be gone. He will forever be the dog that chases his tail. The Red Sox have passed them, and soon, the Rays/Red Sox rivalry will be the one to watch. With Cashman at the helm, we will be looking at the dark ages of the early 90's all over again.

If this is true, this is the worst day in recent Yankee history.

The question is...are you happy? Are you happy with a GM that under his watch has drafted ONE significant player in Chamberlain? That since he took over in the 90's, ten years or so ago, he has drafted ONE impact player? The same guy who picked Pavano over Pedro, Igawa over Lilly, Hawkins over Mahay? The one who didn't trade Melky and Kennedy for Santana?

Look, nothing would make me happier than if Hughes, Kennedy, and Chamberlain had the Yankees in first place this year, and everyone was touting this triumvariete [sp?] as the next Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz. However, his talent evaluation in the free agent market is piss-poor. His drafting is piss-poor. He makes good deadline deals because his team can absorb salary. Any idiot can make the Abreu deal, or the Nady deal. When it comes to allocating your team's funds in the off-season, he's lost. When it comes to predicting which players will do well, and which ones will not, he's at the bottom of the list as GMs.

I have no problem with young players coming up who are good. He doesn't know how to identify them, draft them, or trade them away. He can't sign free agent pitchers to save his life.

So the question is...are you happy, and why?

Let's not forget, it was Hughes the untouchable, then Kennedy, and then Chamberlain was the project.

Find me one sane baseball man who would rather have Hughes AND Kennedy over Joba.

Cashman himself doesn't count.

Dark, sad, terrible day for the Yankees. The best GM the Yankees ever had is IN THEIR OFFICE in Stick. He sits there, doing nothing. He has no power, and has more intelligence than the rest of the front office combined when it comes to baseball.

The real Steinbrenner curse has begun. Instead of win at all costs, its now costs are worth more than wins.

RIP Yankee Playoff Streak. A good 12 years, and killed by the same man who convinced us it was all a good thing. Even Doctors fell for it.

Good. Gom's dramatics aside, the Yankees are a better team with Cashman at the helm and I'm glad we'll be making an effort to hold onto him.

You're not an Optimist, you're an idiot. Give me one reason, just one, why we should have Cashman at the helm over Stick Michael.

Stick drafted Bernie, Jeter, Mo, Posada, Pettitte. Remember that when making your argument for a man that took over a World Series championship team and slowly had it erode until this season's THIRD PLACE FINISH.

Only a true moron would reward an executive with an extension when his team has the highest payroll in baseball and they finish in third place in their own division. The fact that you echo the sentiment shows you are just as dumb as they are.

You still waiting for Isaiah to turn it around?

Gom is another moron. So many of our brethren are stricken with an inability to think. The world series rings have blinded them from the actual thought that goes into building a championship team. Unfortunately, simpletons cannot understand.

Now, if Cashman goes out and signs Tex and CC this offseason, will you take your head out of your ass? I am counting on at least one of them. AND, if we go out and get a player of Johan's caliber without having to give up elite prospect talent, then I am happy to have waited the yr. It is absolutely stupid, short sighted, and well, Gom-ish to trade away three high value pitching prospects for 1 yr of a player. This is assuming we get CC, but the trade will boil down to 3 prospects for one season. Is it worth it? Time will tell, but if Hughes can stay healthy, he'll be dominant.

Unfortunately, guys like Gom like to cash out prematurely. Only an idiot would write off Hughes right now. Only a f***ing doped up moron would write him off. And if we get to keep him while getting the same type of player in return for 1 yr of having a shaky rotation, then sign me up.

Cashman is a very good GM, and I hope he stays for a long time. Find me one person in baseball who thought the Yankees would score 750 runs this year, and I'll entertain your rips on Cashman.

The offense hasn't produced, that's why they are where they are.
