What the f*** kind of PPV is Couture vs Nogueira?

Couture is an underachiever and Nogueira is so old he'll turn into dust any minute now.

5x UFC Champion, lol.

Nogueira is 13 years or something younger than Couture...... he ran through Couture tonight. 2 knockdowns, almost had a d'acre choke.

Please don't post in threads you know nothing about. Thanks.

Couture used to be really good' date=' but he needs to hang it up. Still stunned that Nogueira was a +180 underdog.[/quote']

Agree on Couture, had 100 bucks on Nogueira.

He was really underrated coming off of his fight against Mir when he had a torn meniscus and a staph infection.

Couture didn't look that bad tonight, I just think all the punches are adding up, Nogueira isn't the best boxer in the world and he looked pretty effective tonight against Randy.

If I could I'd put all my money on a "legends" match, Couture vs. Liddell IV in the Fall, in both guys last fights of their career.

Fantastic pick. Did you pick any other fights tonight? Leben seems like the Washington Nationals of the sport right now.

I like Leben, tough guy, but he can't do much other than brawl. He's 8-5 in the UFC, and I think the UFC will give him one more chance.

I also put 100 on Silva (which was a f***ing steal @ +185), then I lost 50 on Soszynski @ +195. All in all, great success.

If you don't think Couture's become the Derek Jeter of the UFC, then i don't know what to say to you.

The man gets more hype than Tom Brady at a model party.

But then again, he's a 5x champion, so that makes him awesome. Championships in UFC are like RBI's, champ. But you and your wealth of knowledge already know that.

And about Nogueira, believe it or not, all 13 years younger of him when compared to Couture have nearly twice as mileage in that body, not only the 3 years you've known him, but hey, you're the expert, so you should know this.

Couture's losing fights not because he's old or washed up, but because he HW division is turning into a super HW division. He signed a 6 fight extension and is most likely dropping down to LHW with the siz of the guys that will be fighting at HW these days. Randy gets hype cause he's an icon, not because he's the best fighter alive. You think about the UFC, you think about him and Liddell. I think you ask 9/10 UFC fans the top 10 heavyweights fighting in the UFC, no one has Couture above 5th. This fight got a lot of hype because it was between 2 of the best heavyweights of all-time, a fight that has been talked about since Nogueira was submitting guys in Pride.

I'm assuming you didn't watch the fight by your initial comments, so I understand why you're saying stupid s***. It's easy to look at wikipedia and see Nogueira's 39 total fights and say s*** like that. Nogueira last night looked like he was fighting in his Pride days. He swept Randy, one of the best wrestlers in the UFC, when Randy was on top in his guard to Nogueira being in mount. His stand-up looked as good as it ever has, and he's one of the best jiu-jitsu artists in the world.

I haven't been a fan of MMA for long, in fact just started watching it. I have Showtime at home, and they have a broadcast deal with Strikeforce. Watched Santos (Cyborg) pummel Gina Carano. I think that chick used to have some junk. Stoked about watching Fedor this fall. Was impressed with Gegard Mousasi when I saw him.

Mousasi can fight, people are calling him one of the top pound for pound light heavyweights today. I disagree, but he's getting up there, he hasn't really fought too many people of note yet, aside from his last fight against "Babalu" Sobral, and then fights against Melvin Manhoef, and Jacare Souza. He's a very impressive fighter though, he's in the DREAM open-weight tournament semi finals right now too.

Last Friday he lost a sparring exhibition match at a M1 event to Emilianenko. I'm personally not a fan of Emilianenko, and hoping his next opponent (Brett Rogers) cracks him in the jaw and puts him to sleep.

That Cyborg/Carano card was awesome though, top to bottom.

Doubt Rogers lasts the first round. I may have only just started watching MMA, but I'm familiar with the techniques grapplers employ. The USMC hand to hand combat training is a hybrid that utilizes chokes and locks from Judo, Sambo, and other disciplines.

Since becoming interested in the sport, I've checked out Fedor's fight history on youtube. He's as good a grappler as I've ever seen. Tough as nails and able to manipulate whichever joint is available in a given situation.

When I was in training, the saying was, an extended limb is a broken limb. Fedor demonstrates that principle as well as anyone I've seen.

Depends, I think if Rogers improves his wrestling enough to use it reverse and stop a takedown or his judo throws, he's got the KO power. We didn't get to see his improvements in his last fight because he knocked out Arlovski in about 20 seconds or whatever it was. He's got a lot of size on Fedor, so we'll see how that works out.

The only criticism I have of Fedor is that he hasn't fought the toughest competition out there, especially in recent years. Be that his fault or his handlers fault, I don't care. He's fought maybe 2-3 top notch guys in his career, Nogueira 3 times, and Mirko Cro-Cop (who in his prime was one of the best kick boxers ever in MMA).

He's a top 4 pound for pound fighter in the world, but I'm not sure I'd put him over St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, or Lyoto Machida, only because those 3 guys have been facing top level competition their entire careers.

I love UFC, but I hate Brock Lesnar, but yeah I'm pretty sure he's one of the baddest dudes on the planet, I'd be too scared to go anywhere near the guy

Nog healthy would tool on Mir. Mir picked him apart standing @ UFC 92 because Nog was unhealthy and was obviously reacting slowly to everything. Nog looked spectacular when he fought Couture, best he has since his Pride days.

Hell of a cut Wagner suffered last night. Rampage has got to be half retarded. Everyone knew Wagner would have a very hard time dealing with a good wrestler and Rampage decided to chose Madsen (2 time natl champ) as his opponent anyway.

The fight card last night was f***ing dope.

Quarry vs. Credeur was awesome, as was Condit vs. Ellenberger was awesome.

Nice to see Huerta in there, was hoping Maynard would tool him.

My f***ing boy Nate Diaz had a sick sub of another one of my favorite fighters, Melvin Guillard.
