Two in a row against the Yanks. Tomorrow we throw them some raw meat with Masterson. Yanks should bust out against him, but who knows. Maybe Manny breaks out of his slump at the sight of Moose.

The Rays are winning again against KC. The Yanks need to take the next two against the Red Sox and beat the Rays twice to keep from falling out of the race.

I believe that Wally Bell, who made that call on Coco's catch, is tomorrow's home plate umpire.

He should apologize to Crisp in his first AB.

Does Girardi have another team meeting today? JayHawk Bill and I have had a difference of opinion about Girardi's meeting after game 1. One of the things that I have been hearing today from both the Red Sox and Yankee media is that it is not a very good idea to have a closed clubhouse team meeting the night before you face the other team's ace when you are sending a marginal major leaguer to oppose him.

Know why they say that? Because it's riskier from a leadership perspective if you don't win immediately.

My take? The risk was called for: the 7-0 blowout was humiliatingly bad, setting the stage, and the Yankees do not have an ace. Beckett has a career 5.90 ERA pitching in Yankee Stadium--I still support Girardi's move.

Yes--he points out that the character of play has changed, he lauds Damon as an example, and he tells the team to beat up Masterson.

Either that or he screams every night until either they win or he's fired...I'd go for my first idea. ;)

Most of the damage done in Yankee Stadium during his tenure as a Red Sox, happened in his shaky 06 season

At Yankee Stadium in 06

3 games (2-1, 7.53 ERA)- 14.1 innings, 17 Hits, 13 Runs (12 ER), 4 HRs, 7 Walks, 12 Ks

At Yankee Stadium since...

3 games (1-1, 4.46 ERA)- 20.2 innings, 23 Hits, 10 Runs, 1 HR, 4 Walks, 15 Ks

Question: What manager puts his allstar closer in the game in the 7th inning?

Answer: Not a single manager in the majors.

Look, maybe its a good idea, but no one would make that choice.

So you're saying you don't want your best relief pitcher for the most important at bat of the game?
