Yes - I do. I am not confident that we will do very good for the whole year in offense. I am not confident with the bats of Tek, Lugo, Coco, Lowell etc.. I am not confident that Youk,Manny, Drew and even Pappy will be consistent through out the season.

 

I guess it is just me. We will see what happens in October.

I think you're guilty of comparing this offense to last year's offense. Whatever the reason, pitching has gotten better this year in the AL. The average team scored 4.9 runs a game in 2007. In 2008, it has only been 4.56.

 

Compared to last year, this offense is kind of average, but relative to the rest of the league in 2008, they're scoring at a good rate.

I doubt anyone is confident about Varitek and Crisp, but whatever. Lugo, well, he gets on base. Basically solely a singles hitter, but he gets on. Lowell has a .836 OPS and is on pace for 26 home runs, so I don't really see your gripe.

 

EDIT: Didn't even see the second part, about Youk, Manny, etc. And you know what, I'll just let it be

Pardon, but the sun was setting and it was either watch another couple of innings of futility or go outside and play catch a few minutes with JHB II, and I chose catch, 'cuz I'll never have those moments to play catch again, but I can be just as frustrated if and when Boston loses whether or not I catch every inning.

 

Regarding the discussion posts I missed:
