the offense cant score 5+ runs every night

Didn't you know?

According to das, the Red Sox can't score 5+ runs, ever. They can't hit. We don't have David Eckstein, and Kevin Millar so we don't have any energy. He would bring the hits/RBI ratio way up.

I dont understand why the hell he went with MDC there

Judging from recent performance, it's hard to see why he ever goes with MDC. I think he and Timlin have crossed trajectories now: Timlin has been respectable in his last few outings (IIRC), and MDC has been pretty rough.

At least Masterson is still in line for the win. Score runs, please.

I guess he's just a big pussy.

I'd credit his bad stretch, to bad luck, rather than a psychological breakdown. His BABIP has gone way up, ever since he was optioned to AA.

With this start, and the start against the Angels, he deserves a promotion to AAA.

I don't know if its a psychological break down or being a "pussy" so much as it is being bored or dissappointed with the AA competition after success (however limited) in the major leagues. I think a promotion is definitely in order.

How the hell I got connected with Ecks and Millar? I hate them.

Millar is not doing too bad btw.

Good job Delcarmen.

I'm faulting Lugo with that one. Barely out of his zone, and he couldn't even make the play. Cora, at least, knocks that ball down.

Cmon man, SARCASM.

I have a feeling in addition to the rise in BABIP, Masterson may have been told to work on his secondary pitches more when he got sent back down.

Right.

If you've ever experienced high level competition or practiced a strict discipline of any kind, being told to work on part of your game or craft after what you considered to be a milestone success, it can mess with you a little. In the case of baseball, he probably got sloppy due to over-confidence, but even AA hitters know what they're doing and can take advantage of mistakes etc. Getting sent down to work on secondary pitches is still getting sent down. What he needs to improve are innings at an appropriate level of competition. Double A clearly ain't it. 91 pitches through 6.1 innings of shut out ball at the major league level means you're clearly playing above the heads of your class-AA mates. His AA seasoning should be over.

... right. I don't think that ever had anything to do with the point. I don't know if there is a point. Masterson is good, how bout that?

EDIT - gameday comes back to life in time for Pap to be a beast.

He's not a pussy.

That doesn't stop a lot of people from claiming that one bump after solid performance, is due to the guy being psychologically damaged.

Hansen gets hit hard? He's ruined.

Meredith struggles at AAA after giving up a grandslam in May? Ruined.

Mariano Rivera coming in with a four run lead? Ruined.

Maybe it's something else? Like BABIP, or being told to work on his mechanics? Can't be, he's a pussy.

For some reason - the offense is under the impression that they need to get out to the field so someone can have a no-hitter.

Is there a reason Pedroia seems to be swinging at everything this year?

My observation is that opposing pitchers are throwing strikes, knowing that his power his lacking.
