Everything up? I'm at work and the locations on Gameday have me at full sphincter pressure.

I had trouble with Gameday and switched to Gamecast with my MASN.

Well even if this slumping offense is not able to comeback, I still consider this a successful outing for Lester who really is impressive when he goes right after the hitters and can keep the ball down.

Lester was good today as has been his recent trend. When he trusts his stuff and can locate, he is a solid starter. He just never proved he could do it over a lengthy stint. If he continues to pitch like this, then he'll be good.

Not a good game today at all. We once again build a decent size lead of 3-0 and then for some reason the offense thinks that it would be cool to just stop there. Lester looked good early today until the end of his outing where everything started to be up. Hansen's line does not look good but, in my opinion, he really didn't have that bad of an outing. Okajima is showing that he can not be trusted with inherited runners and maybe Francona and Mills will decide to look at the damn stats and only bring him in for a fresh inning. It's just so frustrating to watch the offense have weak AB after weak AB and then have our lead slip away throughout the game by the subpar pitching performances. These guys better rest up and be ready to go after this off day

Nothing big on Pitch f/x for any pitcher except Craig Hansen.

However...

The umpire blew the call on two out of three pitches Hansen threw that should've been called strikes. The first pitch to Quiroz was strike one, not ball one, and that might've changed the second pitch that Quiroz hit for a single. The second pitch to Roberts was strike two, not ball one, and the third pitch was a swinging strike that would've ended the inning before the grand slam.

Youk is really showing a lot more power this year. I think its due to his more agressive style at the dish this season

Joe Morgan said it, it must be true.

Nothing on the Pedroia bobble?

I personally would have left Lopez in to face Quiroz, but that's 20/20 hindsight. Why he can pitch to Adam Jones and not a sub-.200 hitter is beyond me.

What I don't get is why 'Jima and Papelbon weren't the choice to get the last 9 outs. The last time both of them pitched was on 5/10, for an inning apiece. They can't go 1+ IP each on 3 days rest with a day off tomorrow? So, we cough up another 1-run lead putting inferior relievers into the game, ask Oki to put out the fire again (which he has not been good at this year), and don't use our best reliever in another close game. But, hey, he'll be super rested for that next 3-run lead he protects. Stupid.

lopez gets the 1st 2 guys and then pedroia dives for a ball that wouldve hit him in the shins if he stood still....guy on 1st,2 outs and the 9 hitter up....

lets go to craig hansen??

1st pitch line drive single, then the bb to load the bases....lets go to oki who has allowed endless inherited runners to score....belt hi fast ball that my 10 year old daughter couldve turned on....

game over

lets hope the interim manager comes down with a kidney stone and we can give the keys to the cadillac to someone who understands our staffs limitations.

thats 4 games in the last 7 they blew(paps 2 blown saves and these last 2 disasters)..

I knew someone would blame Hansen.

At the risk of sounding like a Hansen apologist, sometimes you just have to tip your cap to hitters. Roberts put together an excellent AB, and it seemed Hansen was getting squeezed a bit.

And for a single to be a "line drive", doesn't that mean it can't hit the ground before getting to the outfield? I'd call it more of a "cue shot."

Blame for yesterday's loss, IMO:

1a. Pedroia

1b. Bullpen Management

2. Offense

3. Hansen

2. Offense

A bullpen should be able to get 9 outs with a 3-run lead, especially against that lineup and considering how efficient the offense has been on a whole this year, you have to expect your pitching staff to pick up the slack when the run production isnt there

Oki stats are much better when he leads off an inning , as ORS said , our 2 best relever were well rested with a day off comming up , theres no one that should of been in that mound other than paps and oki when the 7th started

Hahahaha. AWESOME! MANNY WITH THE DEFENSE

the funny part about that catch as is that manny actually gave a high five to a fan before he made the throw to double up the runner

Lol i saw that, although it was kind of a miss by the fan. Either way its nice to see Manny acutally make some nice plays. It would've been really nice had the team actually won the game.

Pedroia ranged far to his left to even come close to fielding that ball...no fault there, IMO.

Boston's offense was fine, individually; the hits were ill-timed.

Hansen pitched fine. Two-thirds of what should've been called strikes became balls: a pitcher cannot survive with calls like that.

Blame, for Wednesday's loss, IMO:

1. Bullpen management

2. Umpiring

Pedroia routinely makes plays more difficult than that. He HAS to make that play.

Dunno, TheKilo. We both watched the play. I guess we disagree. All you can do is shrug your shoulders, I guess...
