EDIT: And Volquez - 6 IP, 1.33 WHIP, 1 QS, 8 K today.

Well I missed out on those stats and you know once I start them they'll start to tank.

Watch Cabrera win the triple crown.

Since I proposed the trades this week....

Volquez - 7 IP, 10 K, 0 ER

Votto - 3 HR

Santana - 9 IP, 9 K, 0 ER

This does not produce a warm fuzzy feeling. Yes, I'm getting David Wright, Miguel Cabrera, and Ben Sheets, but the guys I'm giving up are lighting it up and could be in breakout mode. I think I got distracted by sparkly things.

Ahh, get-away day. Nothing like being counterproductive at work with Gameday distracting me on the screen and the call coming in on my XM radio.

Interesting decision going on in Pittsburg. Jair Jurrjens loads the bases in the bottom of the 5th with a walk, a single, and a HBP. With 1 out, Russell decides to let the pitcher, Duke, hit in a 0-0 game. That spot had a LEV of 3.0. Duke, who was at 80 pitches, struck out, changing the LEV to 3.6. Freddy Sanchez doubled to clear the bases after Duke struck out. Even if a PH and Sanchez had failed, the reliever in to pitch the top of the 6th would have only faced a LEV of 1.3 to start the inning. Russell got lucky.

Because all I can get on Saturdays from now until the end of the season will be the Marlins and Rays, I'm watching the Rays game today. Another Joe Magrane gem to share with you all. JP Howell comes into the game and Magrane quips, "JP has really found his niche in this bullpen". The situation was pitching the 6th inning on the road down 3. Some niche spot that is.

The Red and the Padres are heading into the bottom of the 18th with a score of 9 - 9.

The Reds are brining in Edinson Volquez, who started Friday and struck out 12.

Pedro pitched 4 innings of shutout one hit ball on 60+ pitches' date=' but didn't come out for the 5th. Does anyone know what happened?[/quote']

From rotoworld.com

Pedro Martinez was pulled after just four innings on Saturday because of stiffness in his right shoulder.

Martinez lasted 66 pitches against the Rockies. He had walked three batters, but allowed just one hit and tallied three strikeouts. The Mets are calling it a precautionary move, but we shall see.

Mike Pelfrey is pitching unbelievably well of late. He pitched 7 shutout, walk-less innings against San Francisco last week, and tonight against Colorado he is pitching in the eighth inning with 1 down and still hasn't given up a run or walk. He has only given up 1 run in his past 21 innings or so. Oh, and he still hasn't reached 100 pitches yet tonight.

Yeah, Pelfrey has been insane as of late.

Don't look now but the Mets are about to win their 9th in a row. Looks like Jerry Manuel's "gangsta" style is catching on.

It really sucks seeing the player that got me into baseball breaking down like this

A few scores worth noting tonight:

Detroit 19, KC 0 - 8th

LA Dodgers 16, Colorado 3 - 5th (!!!)

Wow.

I was really trying to get to one of these Rockies/Dodgers games but my buddy didn't really want to go. Tonight probably would've been the one we attended... good thing we didn't...

I am proud to say I was able to see Alexi Ramirez hit his first career grand slam last night at the White Sox-Rangers game.

CC Sabathia has been ridiculous ever since being traded to the Brewers. He pitched a 3 hit CG shutout tonight at St. Louis, his THIRD CG in 4 starts with Milwaukee. With Sabathia, Sheets, and Manny Parra, the Brewers have a scary 1-2-3 in the rotation. I'd hate to draw them in a short series in October.
