Win again f***ers.

Location: Fenway Park, Boston

Date/Time: May 2, 2008 at 7:05pm EST

TV: NESN, MLBtv

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/logos/38x45/tb_38x45.gif #36 James Shields, RHP (3-1, 2.54)

Scouting Report:

Rays: Shields faced just 29 hitters Sunday against the Red Sox, limiting the world champions to two hits and a walk, while throwing just 98 pitches en route to a two-hit shutout. Shields' best pitch has always been his changeup, but he also has a plus fastball and curve and he's added a cutter that has helped him throw inside to left-handers. Shields is 0-1 with a 1.54 ERA in one start at Fenway Park.

Red Sox: Boston's ace may have taken the loss in his last start, but the right-hander was dominating. Beckett had a career-high 13 strikeouts, allowing four hits and one earned run over seven innings on April 27. Minus a solo home run to Rays rookie Evan Longoria, Beckett kept the Rays batters in fits, issuing one walk over 26 batters faced. The right-hander will look to get his third win this season as he faces the Rays again, this time on his home turf.

I'm pulling out some Ted Williams mojo to help get some more run support.

Ortiz is slowly heating up - that can make all the difference.

Also - Jacoby is a kind of sparking plug in the leadoff spot that I have last seen in Damon when he was here.

Question for you guys - who do you think finish the year with us in the rotation:

Schilling or Colon?

Dammit!! 3-2

I'm torn on that one. I have high hopes for Colon and hope he can be "that guy" again. But you can never discount Schilling. The only problem there is that HIS doctor said he needed surgery.

So if I have to pick one now, I'd say Colon.

Yeah' date=' it sucks. A 2 run homer. Hope the bats continue![/quote']

I guess it is just me, you and JHB tonight. Thanks in advance for bearing with my whinning ( don't worry - it will come if we get behind).

It would be boring if everyone was as optimistic about this team as I am.

Not that Im not happy' date=' but Gross could've had that. He didn't even move.[/quote']

Can you please ban that gigantic tool bag "Timlin in the 8th"?

Site went down for me for a while.

Meh, Beckett was doing what I want him to do with the lead, throwing strikes. He got a little too much of the plate, but if you are going to do that Gabe Gross isn't the worst person in that lineup to miss with.

And more of the same in the 3rd. Beckett is pitching like he should with a lead.

Looks like the bats want to get both back for him.

Nice to see Julio with the RBI.

I feel that the baseball Gods should be frowning on the Rays chances simply for the fact that Magrane and Staats are so out to lunch. The stupid things they say have to have a karmic impact in order to keep the world in balance. If they don't get proven wrong, then the end of days might be near.

God' date=' this offense sucks. I wish all you other biased people would see the light.[/quote']

I am moving on on this.
