yeah same here , but I do like the high OBP of 430

It wasn't pretty at the beginning, but 6 IP with no runs is OK with me no matter how it looks. I assume he's done. Let's see if the pen can hold the slim lead! Should be OK since Gagne's in Milwaukee, blowing Brewer leads instead of ours.

I truly believe Eric Gagne could blow a save for the Red Sox no matter who he's actually pitching for.

Paul friggin Bako? Really?

PS: Lugo, holy crap.

ESPN.com's player stats have Lowrie with a .417 BA and a .385 OBP. That seem odd to anyone else?

A little late, but, I think its because sacrifice hits (flies, bunts, etc) count as an AB in OBP but not AVG. I think.

Bases loaded' date=' no outs for Thurston. So, what do we think? Strikeout swinging, strikeout looking, infield popout, or liner into a DP?[/quote']

And the winner is infield popup. Damn, I hate it when I'm right.

I'm going to have to go with "third straight popout to third base" for 500 points, Bob.

Mark Bellhorn + dark skin + haircut - walks - personality = Joe Thurston

Edited.

Gotta say that I like Thurston's attitude...he can only reach base by getting hit by a pitch, but when he does he doesn't flinch, he sprints down to first base, and he tries to take out the pivot man hard when he's the leading end of a double play.

Thurston's "great catch" yesterday was largely the result of a bad break, but his leaping catch today was pretty darn good for a middle infielder. He's out of options, so he'll be gone soon, but Thurston may end up being among my all-time favorite position players who hit .000 in their Boston careers. :D

Buchholz looked strong today.

Macha is very boring but smart.

Ellsbury is really starting to heat up.

Overall, a nice day of baseball for the Sox's so far:D

If only he got hit by pitches more often.
