I understand the stats - but IMO Wang is always hit or miss. You can never predict that he will always dominate.

Yeah but to be fair, he has been extremely lucky tonight, he has been up and if this was an 80 degree summer night, he might have given up 4 homeruns tonight.

Neither of them are setup material. I don't mind them being in the bullpen but we really need another dominating righty to go with Papelbon....is Justin Masterson ready yet??

Masterson is hitting a groove as a SP prospect. I'd like to continue that development.

That;s my point. I watched Wang in last 3 years( I live in NYC) - and he is not even close to as good as the stats indicate.

Either I am missing something or he is one lucky dude.

Right, but what im arguing is that the Red Sox offense isnt that bad. Although they do kind of look bad right now. But Manny has been hitting the ball well and its a matter of time before he starts launching them, and Ortiz will break out of it as well.

this game hasn't had the intensity of a typical Yankee-Red Sox game....must be April

I miss the days where the teams hated each other, like back in 03 and 04. I want to see the Red Sox plunk someone and spice it up.

I like the optimism. To me - we did not have a good offense last year and it worked out. This year - no way Lowell will be as good as last year - so someone else will have to pick up the slack. May be Drew is the guy.

Manny better be doing good this year of he wants to stay in Boston.

I'm not sure there is anyone in the 09 free agency group good enough to replace him.

Yeah - but again $20 mill is lot of money - even for Theo.

Sox hitters traditionally have shown great plate discipline. Somehow this year - they have not been patient with opponent pitchers.

Please define good. They were 4th in MLB in runs scored.

David Ortiz is just horrible right now. HORRIBLE

Has something gone wrong with his surgery? May be he should just go to DL and let Carter come up?

Good in terms of what they were from 03-05.

Thats setting the bar pretty high dont you think? Those three teams had historically good offense. We had a very solid offense last year. I do think its time to flip flop Ortiz and Manny in the batting order again, this worked in 05 when both were kind of struggling/

That may actually be the right move, he can barely get the ball out of the infield, there is clearly something wrong. I have never seen Ortiz look so feble at the plate.

So they can only be good when they lead the league? Thanks for that Ricky Bobby.

Yeah I guess I am spoiled but I like offense more than pitching + defense specially in regular season.

You're an idiot. Stop posting.

I'm sensing a DL trip for Ortiz in the near future.

Usual TheKilo post. I am an idiot if you disagree with me - that's mature.

Quite frankly, what you like is of little importance.

The calculus of winning baseball is to score more than you give up. The better your pitching and defense, the higher your winning percentage will be with a given amount of differential. Yes, and offense is important, but it's only half the game.

This team will hit. They just aren't right now.
