Rain delay in the Yanks game. Hopefully Pettite doesn't come back and Girardi's retarded move from last night bites him in the ass.

So much for that. Pettitte came back, and Pettitte looked pretty good. And why exactly is it retarded, because it was Girardi and not Francona? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to go out and say it was the managerial move of the year or some s***, but it was a demonstration of some witty, progressive thinking outside of the box. It was an attempt to save some starting pitching, as well as some relief pitching. Now in what way is that retarded?

Joba looked really good. Even after letting guys on base he was still able to keep it from progressing and slammed the door shut before they had a chance to peek their heads in. I doubt it will be a problem, especially considering he's gone a few days without pitching, but I guess I was somewhat weary when I saw him warming towards the end of the 6th about him going 2 tonight going into Boston this weekend where we might reallly end up using him a bit. Good effort by Andy to try to get through the 7th to keep that from happening. I guess 1 and a third is a little better than 2.

Also noteworthy is how nice it has been to see Alberto's glove out at short...nasty. Just the little things he can do that go unrealized. I always take exception to constant knocks on Jeter's defense, because he really is serviceable and reliable; for the most part. But having an above-average defender out there is such a treat. On another note, I was surprised to see how good Nomo was. Until the 9th at least.

LOL!

You know, it's just that I don't buy the hype with young players. Of course, some of them turn out to be stars, but the majority of them don't. Jacko seems to want to be a Twins fan. Liking guys in the minors, watching them develop...it's not the way of a big market team.

Someone like Jacko doesn't get it. Ok..so the Yankees bring up young players. So they cut payroll. So what? I got a letter from the Yankees asking me if I wanted premium seats next year. Only $700 a ticket per game. I also had to get them for a minimum of FIVE years. They make a ton of money. They will make even MORE money next year. So if they cut payroll, the ORGANIZATION makes more money, but I see a team that doesn't make the playoffs. Jacko, as sharp as he may be when it comes to medicine, just doesn't see the economics of baseball. He believes everything he reads. With the Yankees...it's not how much you spend...it's how you spend it. Case in point. We lose the pitching matchup to you this series. If Santana was here...we wouldn't. End of story.
