It was about this time last yr when Johan started being talked heavily. Big dominant LHP getting ready for the open market. So why not start discussing and hypothosizing where CC might end up.

I think with Johans new deal there is very little chance he resign with the Tribe.

I think the Yanks will make a big splash at him. They have alot coming off the books and will be ready to spend. Especially not after getting the big guy this off season. Hank will be wanting some attention. And this time around he won't have to give up Hughes and may not have to fight Cashman over Money issues( hint, hint, if Yanks don't win WS or the Sox finish ahead of them, I don't see Cashman getting extended). The Yanks will be opening there stadium and will be looking for that big name starter to anchor the rotation.

As a Sox fan, I never like to see the Yanks get stronger. But seems how we smacked CC around during the PO, I won't fret too much about it.

Anyone else have thoughts?

For some reason I think Sabathia is a bit overrated. I just can't pick him as a consistent elite pitcher in the league and when talking about a trade or signing him you have to value him as such for it to make sense.

Sabathia seems to be hitting his prime at the present moment. Will that continue for the next 6-7 years? I doubt it. I was completely unimpressed with his performance in the playoffs. I'm more interested in looking at pitchers who are coming into there prime....like we did with Josh Beckett

Yes but as I said i see the Yanks going after him, I don't see the Sox having alot of interest. They will most likely kick the tires tho.

I myself have a vague interest. He's def a physical risk. Anyone that big is. I think hes more of a 1B SP, rather the a 1A(Beckett,Santana,Carpenter,Oswalt). But i'm guessing the price will be a bit hi for the Sox.

I think there is a good chance Tex signs a long term deal in ATL. But if he is available I imagine the Yanks be in on him.

I think hes a Yankee in 2009.

You'd think, but if they weren't willing to go long term with Santana why would they with a guy who's a much bigger risk?

cuz it wont cost prospects

Exactly...

Plus if they fall short of Hanky's expectations, Cashman won't be around to block at a big contract offer.
