They were amazing, all right. But better than the Red Sox?

"I think so," said Monfort. "How did we win 21 out of 22? We got the breaks. And I think they got the breaks. Are they a better team? I don't think so. You give us 10 games against them, we'll beat them six."

I guess that means they would win the next 6 in a row!

Someone wake him up and tell him his team got swept in the world series.

You don't think he knows that?

Do you guys seriously believe that he's going to talk against his own team?

Posted

I don't think he needs to be talking against his team - he should be proud what they have done.

I just think he should be respectful to the team that just won - and not take lessions from Eric Byrns on how to talk to media.

That's two pointless threads over the course of two days.

Agreed - I am posting more than I should - but it is a special day.

On the grand schema of things - do you think there is any point in any thread here? Does anyone (player/FO) ever take a look at what we think and act accordingly?

No, there's threads for viable, legitimate discussion and then there's threads like this and this.

No of course not, I fully expect him to support his team. However there is a difference between being supportive and being delusional.......at least give credit where credit is due after getting swept in the World Series. (like your manager did after the game)

The Rockies may not be the better team, but they were a damn good team.

This is an incredibly haunting (depressing even?) image, IMO.

DENVER - OCTOBER 28: Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies watches from the tunnel as the Boston Red Sox celebrate after winning Game Four by a score of the 4-3 to win the 2007 Major League Baseball World Series in a four game sweep of the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on October 28, 2007 in Denver, Colorado.

The Rockies deserved to be there just as much as the Red Sox, but the better team won, regardless. And I agree with mtbkyr, give credit where it is due. The Rockies were amazing this year in the National League and throught the postseason, defeating San Diego, sweeping the Phillies, sweeping the Diamondbacks, making it to their first World Series, that's an accomplishment in it's own. But it doesn't make them "better". These aren't the movies, where the underdog is better in spirit, who's better is the one with better numbers.

Was he going hunting right afterwards?

Probably not very successfully with the white sneakers circa 1977. I think he just came back from a Nugent concert. Again...circa 1977.

Ha ha ha! I can see the new Manny poster.

"Todd Helton is busy hunting, this is better."

I just think its classless to call your team the best when you just got swept in the WS by the best team. It takes away from our accomplishments, and I take it as an insult. You can say you are proud of your team, you can support your team, but saying your better than the team that swept you is disrespectful.

It's a good thing the Sox aren't pantywaists like you.
