Jabs Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 That looked just like the curve that was called a ball. Inconsistent. Tek didn't help Lester on that ball 4 pitch with the way he caught it (with the palm up). He caught that strike with the glove down.
Jabs Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Way to go Jon...more runs please.
ORS Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 You know, we hear about what a great sports town Denver is because of the passion of the fans, and for the most part I agree. They are nuts at Bronco games, and when the Av's were good that was a tough house to win on the road in the postseason. But, the fact that they need the organist to get them to start a "Let's go Rockies" (which they didn't sustain when the organ cut out) with runners on down by one with their backs against the wall has to kind of add a perspective point for those that try and quantify which towns are the best sports towns.

Give them 90 years or so.
Jabs Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Lugo...playing terrific defense? Ummmmm, OK.
ORS Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Hockey came there about the same time baseball did.

Jabs Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 silver, my youngest is now in bed. You can cross that one off your list.
Thumper Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Hockey came there about the same time baseball did. I wish major league baseball would come here. I say California could give one away. We'd have the Former Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem who now are the New Orleans Angels of Metairie Louisiana.
silvercreekcc2006 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Hockey came there about the same time baseball did. True, but the WCHA (college hockey) is huge in CO. Nothing much happening on the college baseball front in CO. I think pro hockey got a head start, plus the new franchise "borrowed" a lot of bigger name hockey players to get going than the Rockies got for baseball.
a700hitter Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Lots of broken bats the last two nights

Jabs Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I can't find any fault with his D in the WS. He just makes my butt clench every time the ball is hit to him. Is that a bad thing? That throw to Ortiz earlier was a perfect example.
silvercreekcc2006 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 TedWilliams101 you need your boy to burn up some eggs!

That throw to Ortiz earlier was a perfect example. I have no fear in him playing D. Is everyone else concerned because of his size, or because of his lack of time at the base? So far he's proved himself in my eyes.

I thought the expansion draft that brought on the Rocks and Marlins was heavily in favor of those two clubs. The Rocks were immediately relevant with the Blake St Bombers and the Marlins won the WS in like their 4th year.
a700hitter Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 TedWilliams101 you need your boy to burn up some eggs!I am doing my part. I have not moved from my position on the couch since game 4 of the ALCS.

silvercreekcc2006 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Oh boy. Thought ManRam had a chance at that one.
Thumper Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Good hustle by Manny, was just a good pitch to hit.
a700hitter Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Manny played that like a hand grenade.
silvercreekcc2006 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Shut up McCarver! Superman couldn't have gotten to that ball. *******!
Jabs Verified Member Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Misplayed? I didn't really see a bad play there, but they didn't show the whole play. Matsui just hit it hard.
