I think the Yankees are well rid of him, because he clearly must be suffering from the onset of some mental dementia-- possibly alzheimers like the boss.

The Yankees made him that offer knowing he would reject it.

 

As per the original question, Trembley was named full-time manager back in August. And I don't think Torre would want to go to a dysfunctional organization like the Orioles as long as Angelos is trying to make the team look like the St. Louis Browns.

How did they know that when he had been discussing a contract for less money with the Boss's son-in-law? No one else is or was asking for permission to interview him. Why would they offer him anything if they wanted him gone?
