From the articles I've read it sounds like he wasn't doing it to cheat. It appears he has medical tests and doctors prescriptions and an actual problem for which he needs to take them. The timing of this whole thing is what's most unfortunate. One more hurdle they need to get past.

Two of Byrd's prescriptions for growth hormones were not written by a physician, according to a law enforcement source. Instead, the prescriptions were written by a Florida dentist, said the source, who asked not to be quoted by name because he was not authorized to comment. The dentist's license was suspended in 2003 for fraud and incompetence, state records show.

there arent any reasons (that I am aware of) to supplement HGH in adults.

I think he says he has a growth hormone deficiency. :dunno:

Whatever... I don't care if he took 'em either way.

I watched Rome is burning and I guess Byrd is in deep s***. He said that MLB was aware of his use, but MLB said they were not aware at all and had not given him permission to use it. As was posted above, many of the prescriptions were not from legitimate doctors. And the company he got the HGH from was one of the internet providers that is getting prosecuted for the illegal distribution of HGH.

It is looking like Byrd is a lying sack of s*** and is in fact a cheater. I'll await further info to pass final judgment, but it isn't looking good. If it is true, I want to see him get humiliated for lying to everyone.

even if you have a deficiency as an adult. In my short time in the medical field, I have seen it ordered once, on a kid.
