I'm so sick of this stupid s***. His attitude means nothing. It's about production' date=' not whether he shows emotion visually. He's having a down year. There will be better years, there will be similar years. He's had very good seasons in the past.[/quote']

Oh, no doubt bro. I mean I have tendency's to be rather quiet but I still care, and I'm sure he does too. And I'll hold judgement on Drew until after next year, and that includes postseason. Look at what happened to Renteria in Atlanta.

Game Over. As I'm listening to "Game Over Remix" by Lil' Flip.

Hey? My apologies for the "stupid s***". Call me nuts but I want the guys on the team, the one getting the money, to show a bit of the emotion that I feel as a fan. Production is great. Production is a must. That should be a given. But I like a guy who's psyched to be in the bigs and winning.

So sue me.

Once again' date=' I really only care what he's doing right now. Sucking, and not kicking the Gatorade jug. Call me sentimental for the good 'ol days of playing hard and looking like it.[/quote']

Were you complaining about him not kicking the Gatorade jug in September?

Give it a rest. Seriously. The random Drew bashing is getting old. Next, you're going to tell me that Drew is the source of AIDS, was Stalin's assistant, and massacred the Armenians.

I'm frustrated with his overall performance this season as well, but there are 4 more years left in his contract. If he was performing well, you wouldn't give a s*** about his emotions.

We'll agree to disagree on that one. Give the Stalin rant a rest though, wtf? Anyway, using your logic Lugo's contract looks brilliant. Whatever.

It's not an all or nothing proposition. Sure, a guy who performs and looks like a zombie does the team well. But a guy who is blowing and seems to not care in the least is a drag, and a BIG one, at that.

Right. If he was doing well we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Then start ragging on Varitek too. It's not Drew's fault that he's making $14M/year. In a market where Gary Matthews gets $10M/yr, Drew can get what he got. It's an inflated market, and it has been that way for the past few years. Whether he makes $300K or $14M, I want him to produce.

I didn't mean to sound offensive, but I just get irritated when people continuously knock Drew. I'm not pleased with him either, but the bashing is annoying as hell.

Just a thought, wouldn't it be WORSE for him, performance wise, if he was pissed all the time which would cause him to be pressing constantly thus leading him to be even worse at the plate? :dunno:

Peace, bros. I'm glad I got you guys on my side. We've got two games of work left. See you Saturday! OUT

Anyway...anyone catch the Fox Algonquin Round Table where the chick says "Boston looks to repeat history by coming back from 3 games to none."

I see you're point. I really do. But, for whatever reason (I can't even explain it) I still get the impression that Tek cares. I think (hope) that Drew's '08 will make us forget his '07. But that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love to see him sit out Saturday.

And don't even get me started and that ******* sound bite from Manny.

Beckett is just a lights out big game stud. Youk and Pedroia were the hitting stars. For all the manny-bashing from the media, he drove in the game-winner from first base with 2 outs. Of course he was given no credit for his accomplishment.

Pedroia is the key for the final two games. He seems pretty locked in right now. Let's hope he stays hot.

Without a long explanation, I think I'll be in front of a TV Saturday night, but I seriously doubt I'll be online.

GO SOX!!!

His ex-girlfriend definitely rattled him. She ain't no Kate Smith apparently. A very Cleveland low rent kind of approach. I'm just happy to see the last of those damn towels.

Nice win. Go 1-0 two more times, and we're into the world series. Do it.

I was being melodramatic. With the amount of s*** Drew gets, you'd swear that he did something abominable. And, lol, tell me how my "logic" makes Lugo's contract look brilliant. I'm not a Lugo fan, and I think we overpaid for him. I also think we overpaid for Drew, but I also think a majority of baseball players are overpaid because that's the way the market is. So, in the end, I don't really care about the money because it's not mine. Besides, the Red Sox have tremendous financial resources.

It's not an all or nothing proposition. Sure' date=' a guy who performs and looks like a zombie does the team well. But a guy who is blowing and seems to not care in the least is a drag, and a BIG one, at that.[/quote']

I understand where you're coming from. Look, let me put it this way...I'm not someone that believes in team chemistry. I don't believe in momentum. Momentum gets you as far as the first inning of the next game. Team chemistry is overrated. While it's nice to not have distractions in the clubhouse, a clubhouse that gets along with each other 100% of the time isn't essential, IMO. They're professionals; they're paid to play baseball. When they're on the field, I expect them to get along for at least 9 innings. Besides that, who cares?

So, when I see Drew not show any emotion, I don't really care. Like I said, I'm not pleased with his season, and I'm not going to defend it. But the amount of s*** he gets is ridiculous, and even more ridiculous is how commonly that s*** gets spit at him.

Right. If he was doing well we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Exactly. The only reason you're irritated at his emotions is because he's struggling. If he was successful, he'd be the same way ... he wouldn't look like he cared or anything. That doesn't mean that he doesn't.

Write a blog about it whydontcha

LOL. Oh s***!

I would like to see Crisp sit out of the lineup more than anybody.

You sound like me. I guess my presence was missed in this gamethread tonight.

Let me start off by saying Cleveland is a bunch of bush league motherf***ers. Having Beckett's ex sing the national anthem was garbage, their towels are garbage, the fact they need the stadium PA to get amped is garbage. I loved the looks on their faces at the end of the game, like someone ran over their dog or something. f*** you, Cleveland. You don't know what suffering is. No wonder LeBron won't cheer for your f***ing team.

Second, when does the discussion start for Josh Beckett being the greatest postseason pitcher ever? What more does he have to do? I know he needs more longevity, but what he has done in the postseason is absolutely atrocious.

His stats read:

9 Games, 5-0 Record, 1.79 ERA, 73 K, 13 BB, 0.54 WHIP

I loved the fact he yelled "POPUP" after Lofton's at bat. He's a rare breed, one that excels in the postseason.

Lastly, I find it interesting that in 2003 and 2004, we were facing 3-2 deficits. We face a 3-2 deficit now. The difference is we're going home where we a better offensive team. Each time previous, we won game 6. Luckily for us, the guy who won Game 6 in '04 is starting Saturday night.

Let me leave you f***ers with this....don't make plans for Sunday night.

Posted

That's it. Longevity. That's all he needs. He's already got the resume to match anyone ever in the chances he's had.

Is there a more sure thing in sports than Josh Beckett toeing the rubber in a playoff game at this point? On another board a Cleveland fan was questioning why everyone was giving game 5 to the Red Sox already (before the game had even started) and my response was "Josh f***ing Beckett!"

So Shilling for next game? I dunno how to feel about this.

Should Terry start Lester instead or be ready to pull Shilling early and put in Lester? I'm not feeling too easy, but still stoked they won tonight!!!

I'd start Schilling but have Lester at the ready.

I don't think we need an alternative to Schilling. I know he had a rough outing, and yeah, I'd feel better with a guy ready to come in and relieve him if he struggles (but that can be said about any of our guys except for Beckett, at this point), but I trust Schilling completely in a game we need to have. I'm excited! Nervous too! God I love the playoffs.
Posted
We all have to bow to Beckett's greatness. Him pitching a playoff game is like Tiger Woods leading a major entering the final round. The opposition might as well not even show up; it's a done deal, a foregone conclusion.
Posted
Beckett was dirty. Filthy even. But now he is done for the series as is Sabathia and the cold Schill and DiceK get their turns. I said that the sox would win game 5 but falter in game 6, so lets see if the worlds worst predictor of games can sneak one.
