Ok well in August in 5 games he was 5 for 11 with a couple of HRs. Then in September in 5 games he went 1 for 10

 

Its kind of moot anyway, Sox wont bench Varitek, let alone in the heart of the playoffs

So - it was just him - it was not because our starting pitchers were worse than AAA and we could not hit for s***.

I don't think it was just a coincidence. The only other time he was on the DL the team experienced a similar precipitous collapse-- the 2 worst collapses thaey have had in the last 10 years.
