Victor's bonehead play hurts there. That gap is covered if noone is on 1B, and thus, Matsui doesn't score.

It is funny. Coming into this game, ARod was considered the big choker. But Jeter, Posada, Cano, Matsui and Cabrera are all under .200 along with ARod and Jeter has been in the middle of all the chokes this series. And to go along with that, Clemens, a typically reliable pitcher, shows a lot of selfishness in going out there when he wasnt even close to 100%. This team needs new leadership. We need a manager who will take control of the team rather than have the players run the roost. Egos eventually get in the way and cause the ship to sink. For the second yr in a row, I feel we are going down to a team that is far inferior to us and we should have blown them away from pitch #1. Too bad it doesnt always work out that way.

Derek Jeter on TV making a speech.

Announcers saying "lets hear that Yankee crowd"

When the Yankees score its a whole big deal but Trot Nixon hits a homer and its as if he made an out. Meanwhile Derek Jeter flies out and they call it an "excellent at bat"

Wow, the wife got home and I put the kids to bed, and it goes from 3-1 to 8-3. Westbrook is as advertised.

What a change. I left when Hughes was in his second inning of work and decided to toss on 880AM on the ride to softball. Horrible reception, but caught the Damon homer. It sounded as if the stadium went from funeral to deafening in a heartbeat.

Phil Hughes should get the gameball. 3.2IP of flawless relief after ole blood and guts had a gutless performance. Phil was dominant. His curve was working, his heat was a tick harder and he located everything. This was the Hughes we were expecting and he picked on hell of a time to show up. If we somehow make it out of this ALDMess, I dont see any way this kid doesnt get starts in the ALCS.

You don't get to co-opt the phrase OB&G's. It's a TMW original and a TM of the Nation. You were calling him Mr. Reliable a page back and he was on your fantasy team. 6-6 ain't Mr. Reliable. What is: Schilling in the playoffs. The real season.

You beat Jake Westbrook. In the stadium. Anything less would have been horrifying. Not that big of a win as Captain Marvelous grounded into a few DP's and got a gimme on an error.

Not preparing for next year's team? With defensive analysis?

Hughes was quite impressive and he stepped up. Hoping it goes to 5 now.

Hughes was very impressive' date=' did a fantastic job keeping them in the game. Eerily similar to Mike Mussina's performance in Game 7 in 2003.[/quote']

I thought the same thing. And in relief of the same pitcher. Strange.

I'm not saying he would have been the difference but with his bat in the lineup and his ability to get a pitcher through a game strictly by his game calling....we will never know.

Point is Jason Varitek's value to the Boston Red Sox can never be underestimate.

I think I'm going to be sick.

So...to you....

Varitek : Sox :: jeter : Yankees

If Wedge had any balls he'd throw Sabathia on three day's rest.
Wedge needs to know that you have to keep your foot on the Yankees' throats until they stop breathing...and then you need to stab them in the heart to make sure that they are dead. Sabathia and Carmona should pitch games 4 and 5. Going with Byrd is like forfeiting a game.:thumbdown

Raja won me the pool today...I was at a party and we had a Raja under-over IP pool...I tied with my brother in-law...but won the tie breaker which was "what body part will cause his removal this time"

So utterly predictable.

Priceless. I'm sure he has a huge endorsement contract looming with Massengill.

Wang at home vs Byrd is in our favor' date=' no doubt. But I wouldnt put anything past this Guardians team, they are damn good.[/quote']Bull Turd! This game against Byrd is as close to a post season lock as you can get. I am betting the Yankees big tonight. If they lose, I'll kiss the $ goodbye and lmao.
