Ok, I think we are all excited about the up coming Angels-Sox series, so I thought I would start a thread to talk about it. I think the first two games the pitching is almost a wash. Beckett has been great this season, but so hasn't Lackey. One thing we do have going for us is the fact that Lackey isn't great against us and he has been horrible at Fenway in his career. Also in game 2 Escobar has been really good this season and he has the ability to shut down every offense in the AL on a given start. We all know what Schilling has done in the past during the postseason. I don't know if that even factors in here seeing on how Schilling is a completely different pitcher than he was in any other postseason. That being said he has been pretty darn good since he came off the D.L. I just have a feeling that Schilling is going to come up huge this postseason. It's really hard to say but I think the sox have a really good shot at winning both games, but 1-1 could be a strong possiblility.

Chone Figgins has been dealing with an injury and its really limited his effectiveness. If this continues its a huge plus for the Red Sox....Figgins can create all sorts of problems on the basepaths when he is at the top of his game.

Interesting note: The Angels have not faced Daisuke Matsuzaka. That is a big advantage for the Red Sox...especially if Daisuke can continue his success from his last start.

Lackey pitching Game 1 at Fenway is huge for us. Should be a great series

Lackey v. Sox (career)

60 IP, 6.27 ERA, 42 ERs, 10 HRs, 48 Ks, 26 BBs, 90 Hs

Lackey v. Sox (2007)

9.2 IP, 8.39 ERA, 9 ERs, 2 HRs, 9 Ks, 1 BB, 20 Hs

Along with the +2 WHIP against us this season, a lot to like.

It would be fantastic if MLB could announce when the game is on Wed. Absolutely fantastic.

I believe it's an 8 o clock start.

As for the series, these two teams just look like they're heading in opposite directions. The Sox are getting healthy again and the Angels are banged up, and their rotation is a huge question mark.

Sox in 4.

At Fenway, Dice-K is 8-4 with a 4.86 ERA. On the road, he is 7-8 with a 4.02 ERA. Not sure I agree with this but the good news is, he'll pitch on 6 days rest and the more rest he gets between starts, the better he pitches

If Schilling is pitching Game 3 Sunday then why didn't Francona pitch him yesterday for a few innings against the Twins? I'm hoping this is not a health question for Schilling.

considering he's missed a significant part of the season due to a tired arm already, I think it definitely is a health issue and they're trying to keep Schilling from pitching as few needless innings as possible

Soo then its Beckett' date=' Dice, Schill, Beckett, Dice? Thats nice.[/quote']

the great thing about that is , beckett and dice k still get their usual 4 day rest as there is 2 off days in this series
