I can do this all day, mods ;)

Keep in mind if they win tonight I'll need someone to step up for me.

Boston Red Sox (85-56) @ Baltimore Orioles (60-79)

Last night Clay Buchholz did the job. Jason Varitek did the job. Coco Crisp did the job. Jonathan Papelbon finished the job.

Let's get to 30 wins above .500 tonight, boys!

Sox try to accomplish two goals

Boston (85-56) at Baltimore (60-79), Friday, 7:05 p.m. ET

Blending youth and experience, the Red Sox have started September on a roll. By winning five of its past six games, Boston has moved within one win of going 30 games above .500 for the first time all year.

After pulling out a dramatic 7-6 victory in the opener of their four-game series in Baltimore, the Sox will try to make it two in a row behind left-hander Jon Lester.

In fact, Lester's last start came against the Orioles five days ago, and it was a 3-2 win.

The Red Sox will again be without the services of star left fielder Manny Ramirez, who is trying to rally back from a strained left oblique. Reliever Eric Gagne will also be out a couple of more days as he bounces back from a tender right shoulder.

But the Red Sox are finding ways to win with who they have.

They have a 6 1/2-game lead over the Yankees in the American League East, and the magic number for clinching the division -- something no Sox team has done since 1995 -- is down to 16.

Pitching matchup

BOS: LHP Jon Lester (3-0, 5.26 ERA)

Lester left his last start -- his first outing since he was shuttled down to the Minors on Aug. 23 -- with a 3-2 lead, doing everything he needed to beat the Orioles. Before he held the O's to two earned runs in six innings at Fenway Park, Lester had faced Baltimore just once in his career on Aug. 13, 2006. He allowed four earned runs in five innings on that date, a time in which he had unknowingly begun battling the onset of lymphoma.

BAL: RHP Daniel Cabrera (9-14, 5.06 ERA)

Cabrera has had an enigmatic season that has seen him stay healthy and set a new career high for innings pitched even as he's struggled to remain consistent. The hard-throwing right-hander is on pace to lead the league in walks for the second straight season and has already set a new personal high for losses. Cabrera's ERA is also the highest it's ever been, but he can change that by having a couple efficient starts down the stretch.

Player to watch

Sox utility man Alex Cora is 11-for-20 lifetime against Cabrera.

Let's not win it for JD Boo!

Well, unfortunately, if they win today to get to 30 over, it will be their last win of the season. Because, as we all know since Gom told us, they are going 86-76, so it's 20 straight losses after that. Too bad.

Common boys let's win this game and get a bigger lead on the Wankees. Let's get that magic number to 18.

The magic number is currently 16...

im guessing Lugo sits tonight since Cora owns Cabrera

I sure as hell hope not. We don't need two black holes in the lineup between JD Suckbag and Alex Cora.

thats just about the best non-Manny lineup we can put out unless you put Keilty over Drew

In what universe is Bobby Kielty better than JD Drew?

The red sox universe this year:

avg - obp - slg - ops

Kielty:

.303 .324 .424 .749

Drew:

.252 .353 .378 .731

Granted Kielty is a smaller sample size with the sox, but we can't do much worse than Drew right now. I hope Drew can turn it around, but it's september and he's had plenty of time.

No idea, i only looked up stats with the sox. He was with Oakland before which is a terrible offense. Some people play better in boston (o-cab) and some people don't (rent-a-wreck) so i prefer to look at their time in boston only (my preference) since that's what we actually care about.

What the f***?

What a bunch of nonsense.

Nice Cabrera. Crisp messes with his mind and causes a run scoring balk. Next f***ing pitch, he throws behind Pedroia. What a f***ing class act. Jerry Remy getting worked up.

BRAWL!

Edit: Nahh no brawl. Benches clear, bullpens clear, Jerry Remy calls it a "farce". Didn't adam123 once say farce?

D-Cab should definitely get tossed.
