And' date=' how bad is that Cincy D? Baltimore s*** all over themselves last week giving them 6 turnovers, but now they have allowed 27 1st half points to Cleveland.[/quote']

51 points allowed to Cleveland and Derek freakin' Anderson!

On another note... my Broncos have had an exciting year so far. 2-0 at least. It's been awhile since we've been 2-0.

49ers are also 2-0. So are the... Texans. All the teams seem to be either 2-0 or 0-2 so far. Interesting start to the season. Lions are 2-0... maybe Kitna was on to something...

The Broncos were lucky today, lol. Janikowski couldn't believe it. Exciting ending. The Broncos don't look overly impressive though. They almost lost to Oakland today, and had a late rally last weekend to beat Buffalo by one. How concerned are you?

Not very. The defense looks extremely good, Travis Henry has looked real good and hasn't busted lose yet, and the offense is completely capable of moving the football. The problem has been Cutler. He can make all the throws, but he makes mistakes. But he looks like he's getting better, though. The team just doesn't look like they've gelled yet. I think this year they'll squeak into the playoffs and next year they'll be a legitimate contender.

I look at the numbers for their games so far and I don't see how it's come down to late FG's the way it has. I really don't. So it goes. If Cutler can limit the mistakes he'll be fine... they've played two pretty good defenses so I'm not too concerned. But Champ and Bly both had picks today. Teams can't avoid Champ Bailey anymore because they have an aggressive CB in Bly on the other side.

Bly and Bailey in the same secondary makes me want to s*** my pants.

Especially with a halfway decent Defensive Coordinator.

edit: by the way, Shanahan's timing on the timeout was brilliant. The whistle blew about a millisecond before the Raiders snapped the ball.

I agree. One thing that was interesting though is Jan hit the tip top of the upright on the 2nd attempt...and it was 52yards if i remember correctly. Quite the leg that guy's got!

Yeah, it definetely hit the top. They said (numerous times, so I'm sure you caught it) that he his a 65 yarder before the game that woulda been good from 70. You have to take the altitude into account but still... hell of a leg.

What good is it if the guy can't make it through the uprights?

I loved the 4th quarter by Clemens yesterday. They finally let him sling the ball, the receivers just couldn't hang onto it. A win in Baltimore would have been huge, but I think they'll be able to recover next week against Miami.

You won't see me disagree with that one. I was just saying it's amazing how far the guy can kick the ball. Though his numbers this year are a bit unfair... three of those FG's came off of the infield dirt. Despite the leg strength, he's sucked from long distances his whole career.

My Skins start 2-0. I love the secondary with Rogers, Springs, Taylor, and Landry. The corners can cover, and both safeties can cover and lay a hat on you. I'd like to see more of a pass rush from the D-line, and better gap coverage from the LBs, but a good secondary is a good place to start. It allows Williams to be aggressive with his scheme.

Taylor is showing some progression behind center. I like his mobility and the fact that he isn't run-first with it. Less like Vick and Young, more like McNabb. The Portis and Betts RBBC is a good one.

They won't be a serious contender this year, but they can play.

Campbell, you mean?

I was actually thinking the same thing while I was watching the game. It's a good secondary -- even back in college I loved watching Sean Taylor play. If they can manage to get more pressure on the QB without completely selling out then the defense will be very good. And I like what they're doing on offense considering the talent they've got, Betts, Portis, Campbell, and a big play threat in Santana. Pound the football and it'll eventually open something up down field for Santana Moss.

Yeah, Campbell. Don't know why I had Taylor on the brain.

They are missing one key component at skill positions for the typical Gibbs offense, and that's a big possesion receiver like Art Monk. Moss and Randle El are good at stretching the field, but neither is a big target.

I know he doesn't fit what you were saying they need but I was really hoping Brandon Lloyd would break out for you guys. I thought he was a superstar waiting to break out when he was with the 49ers, who are my second favorite team, but it just hasn't happened and it doesn't look like it's going to. He sure can make spectacular grabs, though...

That catch still makes my jaw drop.

it would be difficult to win with jason campbell behind center

their defense is good but their offense is vanilla to say the least

did mcnabb attempt a pass over 20 yards last nite??

4 f***ing field goals at home isnt going to get it done

You just described the Skins of the 80's, who went to 4 SBs and won 3, with three different QBs.

Now, those teams had the best O-line in the game. The QB didn't matter. The RB didn't matter. This year's version has more skill at the skill positions, but does not have the dominant O-line. However, Bugel is back, and he coached the Hogs. They just need to get him personnel.

I like their defensive back 7 better than the 80's teams, but the D-line is nowhere near as good. Manley and Mann got after the QB. You couldn't run up the middle on Grant and Butz.

So, overall I think you are right. They won't be a SB team for a while with the personnel they have now. But I don't think Campbell is the reason. It will be the fact that they don't dominate both sides of the line, which has been, is, and always will be the recipe for success.

I'll never understand why teams like the Raiders draft Jamarcus Russell when they have no O-line. Trade the high picks for more picks and draft O-line/D-line only for a couple of years. Then pick up skill guys.

You f***ers don't wanna talk about the Pack?

Surprising since all the Pats fans on this board will be Packers fans this week.

I haven't seen them yet this year outside of the highlight shows, but from the stats their D looks legit. Who is going to start getting the ball, Jackson or Wynn? Jackson came with the hype as ready to start, but Wynn looks like he's doing more with his opportunities.

It's a strange time to be a Packers fan, this is shaping up to be one of the best defenses we've had since the two Super Bowls in the late 90s. Add in the fact that only two starters on D are in their 30s, and there's reason to believe the defense will only get better.

They're the youngest team in the NFL, and that's with Brett Favre playing QB. He had a great game the other day, but I'm concerned about the lack of a running game. Wynn's been OK, but Jacksons been a bit of a disappointment thus far. I do think they'll get better once Morency gets back, it'll give them three capable RBs to work with.

Bottom line, if they can get consistency out of their offense (not necessarily 35 points a week), they'll be a playoff contender. Do I think they are top tier? No. I might change my mind with a win this week, however...

what 2 SB in the late 90's ?

They went to the Super Bowl twice in the late 90s.

Try to keep up.

oh ok, tought you meant they won 2 SB

EDIT:the way you wrote it made it seem that they won 2 SB

Haha no.

This could be the best D we've had since Reggie White left, which is saying something.

Brett Favre looks good this year. I inherited a keeper league team on another forum that the original guy who controlled them neglected for the past year and a half, Brett Favre was my only player on the roster that was even somewhat worthy of being retained -- I had the damndest time trying to pick seven more. Anyways, somehow that team is 2-0 and I think it's all because of Brett Favre and the Vikings defense.

How about the Texans, though? They sure look good so far. About damn time they turn a corner -- we'll see how long this lasts, though. That division ain't easy.

Those 2 TD's Steve Smith had...sick.

How in the world did he not go down when five Texans had him and were trying to bring him down? That guy is out-of-this-world good.

I'm starting Schaub this week, so that automatically means they're gonna lose.

f*** Drew Brees.
